The whole is now two or three weeks ago. Meanwhile, I made 1,000 real shots with the 5D Mark III and my enthusiasm continues unabated. A day at the zoo with the 70-300 L was sheer madness. Quite often I could use 100% -Crops in the RAW post-processing in Lightroom, so incredibly detailed and sharp were the photos. No systemic Committee more! If blurred photos were there it was clear to me by the chosen of my shutter speed was a little too long for the freezing of fast movements of animals or as I pass photographed diagonally through thick slices. I was traveling throughout the manual mode Single Area AF, leaving the camera only the Auto ISO to 6400. That worked great.
On the 70D a zoo still looked quite different. Here appeared completely arbitrary blur the focus point on - regardless of the aperture. I was not more affected by the much-discussed open-aperture problem f / 2.8, but the problem appeared completely arbitrary to different individual fields, even with good contrast on. An acquaintance of mine was able to observe the same problem, which was unfortunately really exasperating. We are not photographers looking for the fly in the ointment or investigate any camera / lens each only on their errors and hang us from but we just wanted to reliably focus and become one with our system. Sometimes it worked very well on the 70D, we were very happy, but if we then had the focus problem, even knowing about the problems of phase AF, it was quick with the joy there. I do not have to look only through the monitor in 100% view for each photo, if the photo is shot just become sharp or not. The very demoralized. The first few months I was looking for the error blurred photos first principle with me and doubted already in my photographic skills in using a DSLR ...
But the 5D Mark III shows me more than clear and obvious that I'm definitely not too stupid to take pictures, but my high expectations so far simply could not be met. There were from camera to camera, which I had since 2011 - Sony Alpha SLT-A35 - Nikon D5100 - Sony Alpha SLT-A57 and Canon EOS 70D - always a certain increase, although I remained faithful to the APS-C format, which is sized so even minimal difference from camera to camera, but the 5D full frame and tops them all. I finally no longer a theater with Pixel mud and AF accuracy problems, I can with the noise and the results after completion of de-noising finally live wonderful. I am happy and can recommend the 5D Mark III to anyone who has extremely high demands in terms of image quality.
The AI Servo the 5D Mark III is total madness. This is something I have never experienced / seen. The focus tracking finally makes fun. This will take me for example in the fight scenes of two bears at the zoo brothers excellent clear shots. The autofocus system of the 5D is really incredibly accurate; it is not for nothing by professional racers 1DX. You can clearly see what you can have in the 5D Mark III there. Really great. I regret the expensive change to the 5D Mark III in any way. That was the best decision I could make. I am currently arrived for me on Mount Olympus in terms of image quality. I've always wanted sharp and detailed photos.
My - the one must also not forget - already very high quality lenses were on the 70D, as long as the AF hit, very well. At the 5D but they again reach their full potential. That is quite wonderful to see. I had already seen the objective comparisons on test chart between a 60D and 5D Mark III or 1DX at an international website and was wondering if it really can be such a big sharpness and Detaulzuwachs at full frame again. And I can definitely say yes today. Test charts or not, I'm not a big fan of it, but in the case they were really helpful and even took me only about the idea to switch to full-frame and to take the expensive step.
Incidentally 1,000 pictures taken and the battery is not even half empty. Even a super power. The feel of the camera is awesome: it lies comfortably in the hand. The viewfinder is not as good for me as well as cost glasses that I do not have to flatten the nose on display me. Again, I am fully satisfied.
