Super home theater system + nice additional functions for little money

The delivery took place as usual quickly from Amazon and safely. Sunday ordered, delivered Wednesday. The only gripe I have here: the heavy (26 kg) and bulky cardboard has no holes in the sides, what you could raise him well. In order for the transport of the package falls somewhat difficult alone.

It's all packed very compact and unfortunately it falls much garbage (Styrofoam and plastic bags). After unpacking so first by air (chemical mace says hello).

After you have sorted everything it's time to build. Here it occurs to me directly that the speaker cable is very thin (0.75 mm probably average) and for my living room clearly too short (front left + right, center and subwoofer each 3 meters, surround each 9 meter cable). Since Samsung itself does not offer longer cable and you can not simply replace the original cables due to their connection to the receiver, you have to extend the original cable (eg with wire nuts or soldering). This I will in the coming days to make (should to notice me something negative, I'm going this late filing Info).

The appearance of the boxes is very classy and they do whatever her. You feel a bit cheap on (plastic), but when I take my boxing already at after they are in place? If the initial installation completed, I recommend first of all the distances to each speaker with a ruler to measure, and add them to the settings. Anyway, I would execute before the first real movie all adjustment points to ensure a perfect listening experience.

My first home theater movie: James Bond Skyfall. Somewhat disillusioned, I realized that the surround sound somewhat meager (from the rear LS came little), the voices very quiet and the effects (explosions, etc.) This was exaggerated loud. After looking around on the internet and play around in the settings I then asked the Center LS bit louder (+ 4dB), set the 3D sound on high, and most importantly, the rear LS side (!) Turned to me. So not from behind (this is done at 7.1), or as the front LS at 45 degrees, but really 90 degrees directly to me. And what can I say, I was excited, I call that surround sound! So it really depends on the proper settings, and on the right putting down the pit!

Then I watched Saving Private Ryan, also here really a great cinema sound, perfect for the money! By the way here is the opening scene (landing Normandie) lends itself very well to show off its new plant friends. A surprised look of my friends and a relaxed grin on my face confirmed my purchase.

Then of course I'm interested in is the Internet functions of the device, called the Smart Hub. Here you will not be disappointed if you do not put the expectations too high. Let's see as news broadcast or start small apps goes well. Proper Internet surfing not Gehr bad to. It's just not a HTPC. The apps start all pretty lame (compared to a modern smartphone), and generally you have to be patient during the operation. Knowing this and not upset about it, it is ok. The Internet browser, and general typing of letters is, me the remote control very strenuous and is not fun. There is a keyboard from Samsung especially for Smart Hub, so it should probably go much better, but I do not worth another 80 Euro. I content myself with the standard apps like Tagesschau and Co., where just everything is prefabricated and you need only click. Then it's also fun. A keyboard I do not begrudge with only when Internet is more mature and faster on the TV.

Samsung AllShare (ie playing files from other devices), I have only been tested on the USB port. Unfortunately, reading the files is a bit too slow for my taste. To have to start an MP3 file from an external HDD you have been 20 seconds (!) Waiting that needs to be better! Funnily enough, needs a 15GB .mkv file and no longer to be started. If the first file but first read it then goes a little faster with the jump to the next file. I must say here very positively that the device really is an omnivore, thumbs up!

Next, I have my Technisat S2 satellite receiver connected to the HDMI input of my new Blu-Ray player (my TV supports namely, no ARC). Again, everything works perfectly, with a slightly longer delay, unfortunately the TV, the Blu-ray player and satellite Reveiver be turned on as soon as I turn on the satellite receiver only. Very comfortable. If I have, however, just watched a Blu-ray (ie the satellite receiver is off) and I then the Blu-Ray player turn off, the TV stays on! Although I (a Samsung TV with Aynet) have everything, even the TV set properly, too bad! The sound is also fully ok (TV content) and better than my standard LS of TVs. Negative I find here, however, that you can only use the LS of the 5.1 system. A switching to TV LS is not possible. A pity as I find (would like to directly compare sequentially).

So, that was all that I have tested so far. I am very satisfied with the system and rate it therefore (price / performance) to 5 stars. For comparable services you pay if you buy everything separately, at least twice (AV receiver, Blu-Ray player, 5 speakers + subwoofer). From me, saying a strong buy recommendation for those who are not hi-fi fetishists and some good looking in the beginners class.
