The device comes with me mainly because Remote Play used to stream a PS4 on the second TV in the bedroom. It is technically basically a PS Vita without screen. The firmware and menu navigation are identical except for a few device-specific settings. The menu is therefore certainly not to everyone's taste.
Unfortunately, not all automatically PS Vita titles locally compatible with the PlayStation TV. (Retrieve with Sony) A look at the list of supported games is therefore before downloading duty.
To my main concern, the Streaming: A stable local LAN or dLAN connection is imperative. Streaming via WLAN you need - sebst when both the PS4 and PS TV stand directly on the router - not at all to try. Sensitive reaction games like shooters are almost unplayable because due to the high latency here an enormous input was recorded lag. In the PS Vita this is not so.
In LAN or dLAN it works, however, totally acceptable at. I have a set Devolo added myself specifically for the PlayStation TV dLAN650 +, with the PlayStation 4 gross reach 400 Mb / s and the PlayStation TV 200 Mb / s data throughput. This is limited, however, in my case, even through the router, the support to the ports only 100 Mb / s. It should also be sure that the LAN module of the PlayStation TV to a maximum of 100 Mb / s is designed. A higher data throughput of the line or the dLAN adapter therefore only results in improved overall stability. It has been recorded at the highest quality setting, no input lag. Tested with Far Cry 4. The resolution, however, amounts to a maximum of 1080i, the result in about PS3 level.
Overall, in the right conditions, therefore a recommended Streamingbox at an affordable price.
1 star deduction for the following disadvantages:
- 1080p is not supported.
- Stable Streaming impossible in the WLAN.
- The use of other media services to the PS4 as Amazon Instant or max cathedrals is impossible.
- Support of the PS Vita title is severely limited.
- "Unattractive" menu design.
