Marantz SR5009 vs. Competition

I have long back and forth thinking, what should I buy AVR as a replacement for my defective Marantz SR6008. A new SR6008 came for me not in question, even though I was sonically more than pleased with him - when a receiver for such a short time has a defect, which is not a good sign for me.

The following candidates I had here at home:

Pioneer VSX 924
Marantz SR5009
Sony STR-DN1050
Yamaha RX-V777

Here are the details about the individual receivers. I run the AVR on a Quadral Platinum 5.0 System, M30 tower speaker, M10 Base, M20 Rear, without a subwoofer .. in a 38m² room.

Pioneer VSX 924:
Haptic not particularly dibasic. Quite inexpensive-acting plastic - but OK, and it should arrive, is the sound. Unfortunately, here too the cuts Pioneer to my ears from not very good. In multi-channel operation him clearly lacking spaciousness and punch when it comes to bass. The heights are okay. The OSD is a moderate catastrophe - overlay did not work - when the OSD is displayed, stop audio and video. In addition, it is purely visual really yesterday, also quite sedate slow ... which is also noticed that I had to turn on the AVR rather noisy to obtain adequate volume. The heating during longer sessions is quite palpable. The bass reproduction without sub is excellent and upward even further expandable.

Marantz SR5009:
Inspired by the sound of the SR6008 I bought the SR5009, in the hope that this phonetically similar spectacular sounds like the SR6008, both in multi-channel as well as in stereo mode. Rein haptic it is ever a worlds-difference - the plastic of the front acts inexpensive for the price you should already expect something more - however, the aluminum front is (even if the side panels US Plastic are) the SR6008 a very different Ligo - even the volume controls are made of aluminum. As for the sound I judge accordingly: The SR6008 plays in a different league - physically more present - in stereo mode close to a pure stereo amplifier with detail and emphasis agierend. During longer sessions, he is already about more than lukewarm. The bass reproduction without sub is very good, in my premises but Hine customizable no longer up.

Sony STR-DN1050:
Optical OK, even all plastic, but wertig-appearing. Priced slightly above the Pioneer but among all competitors. In movie mode very powerful agierend, with proper emphasis in the bass and detailed high frequency resolution. In stereo mode, unfortunately, not very powerful - something is missing here - the details do not clean enough to light, the bass is indeed dry and directly available, but there is a lack of presence. The AVR heats up only minimally even during longer sessions. The bass reproduction without sub is good.

Yamaha RX-V777:
Haptic in TITAN very appealing - Aluminum, meticulously crafted. Sonically at par with the Marantz SR6008 when it comes to stereo mode. In multi-channel operation in my opinion superior to the Marantz - the space is much better advantage - and it is not a DSP enabled! Everything is played by passthrough to draw the comparisons. The OSD is unfortunately also the day before yesterday, a feast for the eyes, it is not - but at least it operates smoothly and without any problems. The heating, even during long sessions is not even lukewarm. The bass reproduction without sub is excellent and upward even further expandable.

All in all, I am using the Yamaha more than satisfied and can for a price of 570 not complain really. I would doubt that an AMP would perform better in these respects than 1000 ...
