I have the Grundig Blue Beat ordered me due to the many positive comments on the net.
First anticipate ... I am a hobby - a musician and professional acoustician and would call myself an audiophile.
In such a device is important to me that a review can always be written only in respect to the use, of course ... In this case with me a portable speaker which I can use in the car and go to network-independent my tablet or my mobile phone as to use players for audio books and music.
Therefore I renounce my claims Hi-Fi ... towards a utility-oriented rating.
The device makes outwardly a stable and well-made impression. The weight of 1.3 kg underlines the good feel.
Only the controls do not quite fit in their design, in my view in the overall impression.
After 4 hours of charging, the should be strictly adhered to before the first start, the appliance is recharged ready. The signals thereby they display changes corresponding LED green from yellow. To load an external charger with DC Plug is used. Too bad that Grundig has not relied on just mini USB! So is a shop during long car trips only at rest stops or by consuming the appropriate voltage transformer possible.
The USB - port to the device having at the back is provided for charging external devices (eg mobile phones). He can unfortunately only make a charge current of 500 mA, which is insufficient unfortunately for most modern devices.
Unfortunately, the manual can not talk about out if the box can be connected to the mains is damaged without the built-in battery ...?
Furthermore located on the back still has a 3.5mm jack socket that allows the connection of devices that are not equipped with the Bluetooth standard.
As a player for my auditions I've used the HTC One with Beats Audio and my Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
I have each audio books, classical, jazz and pop used to give me an idea. Also, I've watched a film about max cathedrals and streamed different Youtube Video`s on the device.
At any time the Grundig device has presented a very balanced response. The resolving power of the speaker is better than I had heard it from portable speakers so far. He has over the entire frequency range, a fairly balanced sound spectrum, though mid and deep bass due to design naturally can not compete with a hi-fi box.
For me personally, the Grundig box compared with the Bose SoundLink II system because of their sonically balanced neutral coloration in free-field even fallen slightly better at medium volume. However, was reached with the Bose system a higher volume.
The achievable volume of Grundig box is quite high, ranging for my purposes just fine. All components are selected that always a solid level and low distortion sound is reproduced even at high levels. The built-in passive transducer just worry at medium levels for an appreciable low-end.
By using an equalizer, you can adjust the playback your own listening preferences great. So when my phone shook use of Beats Audio function already made to produce a much more spacious sound. (Goes without saying heavily dependent on the genre, recording quality and the personal sense of hearing)
Disturbing shows a crack which is heard after the end of a title.
Conclusion:
The Grundig Blue Beat Box GSB 500 is in my opinion, in the price range under 100 euros a point sound quality unbeaten.
Of course, it is not to be suitable everywhere towed because of their size and their weight with out.
But on the terrace, while camping, at the hotel room ... etc. It offers good sound quality at a fair price.
The full marks from me there was not, as the aforementioned Manko`s prohibit a perfect score. The cracking is annoying ... and in the car via USB charging I would also like the unit :-)
The weak-chested charging function is to get over!
Overall, I am satisfied with the device, I look at the price paid by 91, - and put the money into, very satisfied. Therefore, the device gets my buy recommendation
