Windows 8.1 liquid, Amazon Prime HD jerky, No Android

It is not easy, this stick to evaluate appropriate since the review clearly varies with application. Personally, I had brought it to me to stream mainly videos (eg Amazon Prime Instant Video). For this he has unfortunately proved to be unsuitable. During the test I was quite impressed, however, as he so liquid running otherwise.

Therefore, here the assessment for 3 different purposes:

1) Small Office PC, which can infect directly to projector, TV or monitor:

What Windows 8.1 is concerned, the stick runs impressively well. The system boots up quickly and it is a Windows 8.1 preloaded with Bing. Launching Office and browser is quite fast and also the structure of web pages is fine (speed is about like a tablet). Since it is a full-fledged Windows, you can install any applications that you would like and even the memory was enough. Only the connections are somewhat limited. Besides the HDMI connector, which can plug directly into the projector / TV, there is still a microUSB connector for power supply and 2 additional USB slots for peripherals. Both are USB 2.0 and only one has the "normal" size. The other USB space is a microUSB slot. Here I had connected my wireless keyboard via USB OTG cable. That worked perfectly. Taking into account that there is a PC in stick format, then you can get over the few connections and I can give it 5 stars for this purpose!

2.) Video Streaming:

In this respect, I had hoped for a lot of the stick. As some streaming platforms still offer no Android app, I thought that the stick is the perfect solution. Because then you could just use quasi directly from the browser and Flash and Silverlight all videographer. Unfortunately, however, has been proven wrong so. In principle, you can use it though, that's true, but not in HD. However, I tested only Amazon Prime Instant Video, as this is contained in my Prime membership. How it behaves with Video Buster and co, I can not say, therefore. For Prime Instant Video of stick was too weak. If you have viewed a video in SD, it was OK, but once you've switched to HD, there was plenty of stuttering and that was not nice to look at. To rule out that it is up to the Internet bandwidth, I tested both with other wireless devices in the same place (it ran smoothly), and a speed test on the stick performed. The delivered about 28-30 Mbit / s downstream as a result, which is more than sufficient. In addition, I also once tried to switch to Flash instead of Silverlight Prime. Then it was even liquid again, the picture quality was only SD and you could not switch to HD also. When I 2015 new embroidery buy me, then to the course HD can. Thus went the then unfortunately back. For this application, I can therefore only awarded 3 stars, because it basically is in SD, but jerky HD I draw from 2 star. (I have now brought me a Fire TV and running at the same point in space even in HD flawlessly)

To be fair, I have to add that the stick principle already can stream HD. So I had tried several HD videos on Youtube and which ran smoothly in 1080p. But as I said: For my main purpose, Amazon Prime Instant Video in HD, then he was unsuitable due to the bucking.

3.) Android:

There not much to say. Except: Nice gimmick: neither Android is installed on the stick nor the manufacturer responds to requests, how to install it best. Actually, you would have to give it 0 stars, and then evaluate the stick with total 2-3 instead of 4 stars. But since I have bought the stick mainly as a Windows drive and it's also great that Orbsmart already brings the stick for all early adopter to Germany, I let the time now left out and do not let them continue to be included in my review that. Nevertheless, I would like to test how the video streaming behaves under Android. Maybe you would have indeed can mix: the good run on Android vendors use Android and providers use the well on Windows running on Windows. Too bad!

X.) Further information:

If you want to know more about the stick, then you can sometimes googling the MeeGoPad T01. From what I have seen, are the Orbsmart AW-01 and T01 MeeGoPad identical (same BIOS, same connections, same hardware, etc.). Since the Orbsmart AW-01 but sold directly from Germany, I would buy the back in Germany, you somahl then neither stress the Customs has and in addition also has the advantage that you can use the right of withdrawal, if it for the desired purpose is not suitable.
