The phone to which I have been waiting for Apple as transfer passengers. However, only limited suitability for LTE in everyday life.

First the positives:

++ The display:

Many will deter the resolution first, but the display is super. Check it out simply times live on. I had read a now 3 year old Iphone 4 with Retina Display and had long been in search of a new device. However, in a handy size, the display was too bad just for all Android smartphones, if you are used to the Apple display. The display is one of the main points in a smartphone for me.

The display here is only minimally worse in terms of sharpness than Apple's Retina Display. This can be seen only in very small print. To me, that is perfectly okay. Overall, the display is very sharp! The color intensity can be adjusted, but it still remains a matter of taste whether you prefer the colors of AMOLED or LCD.

I like the display very well.

The size is perfect. It can be achieved with one hand at any point on the display.

+ Processing and design:

The workmanship is very good. Everything budge. The design I personally like very well. Plain and the border around the display is very shrunk compared to its predecessor. Only the black battery cover is used to, as it shines very strong, almost sparkles. This is of course a matter of taste, but the back can be so easily replaced and there are already many alternatives here on Amazon. I have worried me the Original white battery cover. So you get the appearance of the first Samsung Galaxy Ace or generation.

++ Handling:

It really all comes down superfluid and there are virtually no stuttering. What exactly is a processor drinsteckt for now because I really care then (former Apple users just). Samsung's TouchWiz interface is now very mature and very intuitive after a short. For me, the surface was also why the HTC One mini out of the question. In addition, you have also the possibility of alternative Launcher to install and gestallten the phone individually. The earphone has a good volume and is understood to be over even in noisy environments yet perfect.

However, the mobile phone has its drawbacks, but these do not relate to each user are:

- WLAN:

Wireless reception is not the best. Even rather below average. Depending on the size of the house / apartment that can already disrupt anything. A few meters from the WLAN router removes the reception is already down to a bar. With a wall between it's no longer good, after the 2nd wall is closing. A total of Wlanempfang is at most half as good as that of the iPhone. 4

- LTE:

LTE itself is great, especially in the country! The Telekom LTE network in Germany is already better than me and I have expanded on the screen are only 4G or H +. To surf as fast as Wi-Fi and has in some cases even receive Internet if you can not even phone (unlocked LTE is not yet for telephony). However, LTE sucks the battery is empty very quickly. I'm so in approximately 8 hours of normal use. Is LTE disabled I come loose through the day and also by half the next.

Addendum LTE and battery:

Disable Apps brought the battery felt nothing. Even active Push mails make hardly noticeable. The display took with me the most current. Here helps reduce the brightness, and a dark wallpaper, best Black. Another battery eater is poor reception. The worse the reception, the more battery needs the phone. This of course applies to all network modes and WiFi. But the most well-LTE as the technology already needs to be more battery.

In LTE I usually only 1-2 bars, even in the midst of the city I've never had full reception. But despite the relatively poor reception it still works perfectly and has a significantly better response time than 3g / H +. I've gotten from most LTE anyway. The 3G reception is much better and the battery lasts noticeably longer. Incidentally significantly improves to the GSM reception when LTE is disabled. At my house of 3 bars on full reception.

When this phone has probably saved for space and / or cost on the antennas. Anyone who attaches importance to LTE, should resort to another phone probably prefer. Possibly for Galaxy S3 LTE, simply because Samsung phones are really recommendable and one moves in the same price range (not yet on Amazon, but in other stores). The battery when S3 is in itself bigger and there is even more to be retrofitted.

0 Updates:

At some point, just what concerns reception, Samsung could certainly still reloading software technology. Only you have to say, is a mid-range smartphone, and experience shows that you wait long for updates and get very fast any more. This need not be a big disadvantage, but can. To foresee the but you would need a glass ball.

The current version is mature and at least one update to 4.3 has been announced. The relase of Android 5.0 is also just around the corner and there it could have come to disadvantages if the S4 Mini does not receive this update. But there we are on the subject of glass sphere ...

Conclusion:

For me, the Galaxy S4 mini exactly the mobile phone is on which I have been waiting for. I'm very satisfied. A star deduction for the negative points. But I can live with that. If the battery is to keep long time I just disable LTE and at home I now surf not so much on the phone, for Whatsapp also reaches the mobile network and make easy updates to I put the phone just once next to the router.

Disable Wi-Fi power saving mode to the rescue with WLAN reception problems:

For this, I recommend still Settings -> WiFi -> Menu button -> Advanced -> Wifi in standby mode to "Only when plugged in". Thus, the power consumption of the WLAN itself should be limited.
