The Bad:
1) The TV has two HD tuners - terrestrial and satellite. But to switch between them is not clear. You only have a "Live TV" and then you must go to the Program menu and choose the programming mode. LG should replace "Live TV" with "terrestrial TV" and "Satellite" from the main menu. (LG claim that most people use the set-top box anyway).
2) The choice of local content streaming is awkward if you have a large number of video files to your network server, because each will be an icon. There is no option to view a simple list, which would be much faster to scroll. (But see 4 above).
3) The screen is glossy, rather than matte. This can make it brighter, but the reflections are annoying in front of a window.
4) The TV has a headphone output on the back, but it cuts the TV speakers. I like to use wireless headphones while my wife is happy with the speakers; we would be able to use the two together.
The Ugly:
1) USB PVR is recording the shoddy, as LG uses a special format that can not be read by a PC or other devices. It takes a dedicated USB hard drive and a small flash drive is not enough (although it can play videos and photos from a USB key). This means that even pause live broadcast is not possible without a 40+ GB USB drive. This is totally unacceptable because these things work fine on my old satellite receiver TechniSat. LG makes it difficult to record under the pressure of "heirs" to the difficult private copying.
After 3 months of use I still think I made the right choice, but it is disappointing that these shortcomings of the interface will probably not be corrected with WebOS-2 on the 2015 models.
Finally, the price of 42LB730V increased 35% since I bought it. Now, in May 2015, it is better to buy 42LB650V - or wait for the models "LF" 2015 qqs weeks.
