Indexing:
The indexing is very vulnerable and never went through with me. They always remained hanging. On the internet are circulating some proposals, such as renaming the file name without special characters. But at a full 3TB USB hard disk, you can forget that. Some thought also that it would simply take as long as indexed to many files and waited about 3 weeks. (With my new Fritz! Box 3390 I now know that it takes no longer than 25 minutes.) It was me, saying nothing else than every day via the web browser to end the media server completely and start over again.
DLNA server:
The daily switching on and off of the media server caused that you can also manually always other DLNA server again and had to turn. But even if I did not touch the media server, so I had to at least 1-2 times a day disable the DLNA server and re-enable it, otherwise it was not shown on TV.
Update feature:
I tried to bring the station via an update to the latest version an eternity. But unfortunately without success. Although the station recognizes that there is a new version, it loads down and tried to install it, then it locks up and you can just pull the plug. Then it starts again with the old verison. By chance, I've picked up in an Internet forum an idea with which I then but could manage. The error is that the update feature only works when an old FAT32 USB flash drive is connected. My NTFS USB hard flap, however, did not go around the croak. Then you have to come first time that the station Although NTFS unsterstürzt, but not for internal updates.
Depends on completely:
All the problems above I could always deal with my notebook from the couch. Although very annoying if you, only times the DLNA client needs prior to each film via the web browser restart, but it went. But lately came hinznu nor that they completely hung up the station and I could not even access more via a web browser. So I had to pull the plug and restart the device daily. Even a reset to the factory settings and an update to the latest version brought no improvement. The USBStation2 is just overwhelmed with the indexing. Theoretically, you can connect up to two 3TB hard drives. Do not want to imagine how that part then I lack.
Through the above problems, I can not recommend this product, unfortunately. I have recently decided on a Fritz! Box 3390, which works much better and basically provides the same functions.
