Denon DSB100WTEM Envaya Mini Portable Bluetooth Speaker (NFC, AUX input, microphone for hands-free calling, battery) White (Electronics)

Customer Review

As a little warning, I would note that I probably was deemed "freak" when it comes to portable loudspeaker, at least that's what my wife. It is almost an addiction, always looking for what new and better ;-)

I have probably more portable (Bluetooth) speaker belongs, than many others here. In catching cheap devices around 20-30 euros, to the really expensive candidate as the B & O BeoPlay A2, B & W T7 as well as B & O Beolit 12, Libratone Zipp or exotics such as the Infinity One.

Everyone will eventually find his favorite speaker or not as I do, because there are somehow more grown with me, depending on the size class or weight, as a single loudspeaker can not cover all areas satisfactorily, either it is too small and thus not capable of a truly full-bodied sound to produce, or it is too big to ever even pass as portable.

In the Mini class, let's say "drink cans size", there are now some interesting "deals", including Bose's SoundLink Mini, which you either love or hate, more recently, the JBL Charge 2, which has unfortunately struggled with some teething troubles, or the Sony SRS-X3, but also SoundLink Colour etc ...

By contrast, the Denon revives the class below 100, making many speakers now almost obsolete, with such wonders gizmos like Logitech's Mini boom or various other China Kracher etc. The Denon is extremely portable because it is relatively slim. Although he is more than a Jambox, but by the curves yet space-saving. The length but probably makes sense, as we shall see later.

Although the Denon Envaya Mini certainly oriented a little on Bose's SoundLink Mini, it has not taken its bloated and thick bass sounds, but in my opinion still better and more musical. He tries not hell-bent on the worst and deepest bass conjure which in the end something is then too much of a good, but the bass blends beautifully with the Envaya Mini in the overall picture, I hear neither an unnatural height emphasis or suppressed centers He really sounds natural and simply good and pleasant as a "real" speakers. I have no need at EQ readjust because the bass too much blaring, or the heights perish because suffocated by Bass. Even the Envaya Mini is slightly dull if it is not properly aligned axially on the handset, but the sound will not completely inaudible, he sounds at an angle from the side or even acceptable. However, the special feature is a certain stereo stage, the Denon actually creates build. Probably a combination of the base width of the chassis, which also explains the length of the speaker, and an additional DSP effect, but the Denon actually sounds much wider than any other similar speakers and make it really that solves the music from the speakers or on the edges plays out.

Volume default one may of course not expect miracles, but each plays the Jambox Envaya Mini on the wall. It reaches about 75-80% of the Bose SoundLink Mini, but without particularly striking dynamics processing. Although the bass is slightly reduced at high volumes, falls not unpleasant, as with many other speakers (Sony SRS-X3, for example) who manage their tone from quiet to completely revolutionize loud. The Denon Envaya Mini sounds softly or loudly still to Envaya Mini. Also silent the sound is very voluminous but pleasantly clear where some other speakers, although sound convincing when you turn really times louder, but makes it a little quieter, they whisper just then.

I must confess that the Denon has amazed me truly, in spite of the numerous devices that I've heard in the last few years (perhaps to 100?) Was I already from Fugoo reasonably excited, the Denon sets loose nor a plan. Although he lacks the 360 ° sound, but the Denon is water resistant as well to a certain extent, sounds at the same time much more balanced and even louder than the Fugoo who rather be distorted in the upper volume levels (in the loud-mode), or simply not loud enough (in normal mode). If you consider that the Fugoo then also costs twice, you have to weigh what is more important, sound quality, or whatever!
More expensive speakers like Cambridge Audio G2, Pioneer Freeme and what else is there so can only be belächtelt then actually when you can play the next Denon. Even a Bose SoundLink Colour sounds against the Denon as a monophonic kitchen radio, ... a loud radio, mind you!

In my review certainly still hovers some initial euphoria with, but the Envaya Mini is really special and stands out easily from the confusing mass of average offer extremely low, moreover, because it is actually affordable. I was initially also from the SoundLink Mini excited, just like the Sony SRS-X3 ... but this had to give way at some point. Had the Denon perhaps given earlier, I would not have played around and searching for so long!

Built Features, in addition by the Envaya Mini out from the crowd raises his mentioned: It supports both AAC also APTX, NFC is just as available as a speakerphone. About the Play / Pause button can accept not only calls but also accomplish title change. Is charged via microUSB, except an appropriate USB cable but is not a charger case. There is a cute plush cover for transport. All in all a successful overall package!

In any case, the full recommendation from me to all who wish to remain as compact as possible, but not without great full sound. If anyone still maintains a Mini Jambox sounds good, which to a time popping the Denon Envaya over the head ;-)
