My last (Konica Minolta) once had a defective lens and since then (which is many many years ago), I have confined myself to the photography with smartphones and was thus relatively happy.
I'm not a designated photographer, but rather the type "Clipper". Select ie motive, Auto Focus focuses, Knips, finished. For this, the camera has to be fast and make relatively useful photos. With an SLR, I would certainly be overwhelmed, because I. With exposure, focal length, etc. pp not really conceptually something can begin and have no idea what effect the appropriate settings.
Positives:
The Ixus does - for my needs - very usable shots. 16 megapixels are quite decent, the camera is ready quickly, 8x optical zoom still rarely seen in this price range and the price is so sensationally low that even I have become weak. The battery lasts for about 250-300 shots. Okay, some shots are out of focus, blurred, or underexposed, but whether this is due to the camera or photographer, I can not assess at the moment. With sunshine and blue skies not succeed always great shots in poor conditions partially. But for the price offered, I am satisfied, and after a little experimentation now succeed even better images ... if you know how the machine "ticking".
Negatives:
Criticism from me it on the equipment in the package.
One has additionally a memory card buy (imagine times before, a camera, with which you can not shoot a single! Photo testweise, without which one a (separately purchased!) Has appealed memory card. This gives no printed manual (the 300 pages one can print out the pdf) and a bag is not going well. In retrospect, I was angry, 15 for a memory card 10 for a bag, you are already at the price so far that you would have something better can have. Videos take the device "only" in HD resolution on. Although there is sufficient, but even in comparable price ranges have other devices Full HD. The menu is partly illogical and many features will become apparent only through long trial and error. The display has a lousy resolution. The quasi identical model, only with better and larger display, you can buy as Ixus 140.
The wireless and GPS functionality in the product description are mEn misleading since they work only in conjunction with a smartphone via a special app for iOS or Android. Namely, the phone will track via GPS the distance traveled and subsequently sets the app (using of traditional data as recording time) the place where the picture was taken about it. Likewise, I could photos from the camera to the smartphone "wireless", so move over WLAN, and from there then in social networks, but not directly from the camera (so you could in the description so understand). The same model without Wi-Fi and GPS operates as Ixus 132, again for a cheaper price.
So, for the camera and the picture quality per se, there are 4 of 5 stars for the lousy leaflet again a few.
