DVD Player & DVB-T Receiver USB Multimedia Player Video Recorder Timeshift (Electronics)

Customer Review

I'm not so happy with the device. Image quality is good, but due to limitations in the USB recording, I'd prefer the thing to return immediately, the only problem is, there are few alternatives for DVBTtuner + DVDplayer + USBrecorder, and are no better.
It could be the most points, the disturbing, probably just fix with a firmware update, but unfortunately there is not something. The "current" in the new device dates back from 2004 !!

The menu is Italian language beginning, that you can then switch to English. German is not in the list! The Menu transparency is the way set under Setup / OSD.
First test impressions:

DVB-T tuner / SENDER:
- Finds all TV channels, in border regions and in the neighboring country, but on the first scan only the selected country (Germany => here 12 stations). Only later on again, automatic scan over "all channels" is suddenly the obvious here Swiss (12 + 5 = 17 stations).
- Station names only appear automatically and are then free Nameable.
- Menu for sender country is without Switzerland and Austria, instead there some totally exotic world
- Stations are indeed sorted, but only for zapping, because the numbers for direct dialing remain the same (for me: ARD = No 17 on FB.!)
- Switch for TV reception takes me about 8 seconds, switching time between the transmitters 1-2 sec, I find okay. Below the image is automatically displayed for a few seconds of the title of the current and next program, incl. Times, and current station (who wants more detailed descriptions, but then 3 keys to press, see below)
- Practical: There is a "Return" key, so that you can directly jump back and forth between the last selected among others 2 transmitters.
- (No radio station - or liegts my DTT reception by ancient roof antenna, not touched for 30 years?)

USB recording:
--- The external USB hard drive runs constantly with, even when power is off! (Timeshift is turned off completely)
--- 2-language broadcasts are received only 1 language (may my XORO cable tuner better, but unfortunately there's no cable in Swiss special channels). Pity is namely extremely helpful to learn foreign languages, for example, with Arte (EN + FR) and the Swiss Romano + Italo-transmitter (most amerik. Movies and series there since at EN + FR + IT or EN)
--- Proposal has no Anchor links! Other devices such as automatic set 5min chapter which can not here. If you want the end of a film, therefore you have minutes to picture search (24x) press, a feature film that will take before caustic 3 minutes
--- No Longplay possible. Recording quality can not be selected, only standard, so huge file size
- Recordings automatically get the current program title, is also stored the recording time (calendar day and time), but not the calendar year
- Recording type can be selected as a TS (PVR) or PS (mpg)
- In order to coil in a recording or press pause, you first need to "Info" button! Idiotic: used with only the information window on the lower half of the screen can be quickly forward / backward-coils!
- No Slow Playback (for DVD)
- No repeat functions (only for DVD, on the other hand who accidentally presses Repeat button during USB playback, starts a new recording!)
- EPG infos are invisibly included - but only from the switch-on time, which is convenient for timer recording is always the previous shipment, so WRONG title and content. Whether this information then also with other devices is displayed again, no idea.
- Editing is zero, you can only delete tracks completely or rename (at least 35 characters, of which 27 are already displayed in the list view). No chance, the contingency reserve at the end cut off subsequently eg with a timer recording, or even the lead!
- Playing a USB recordings on other, similar devices is a matter of luck, most no chance. Hab suspect the reason is that the software via permanently set folder for recording + playback can not be selected. Because it seems to me any software somehow to create a separate, special subfolder. For example, my old Xoro Freeview receiver almost seems to use the same recorder software, because the play works on both devices. My recent Xoro DVB-C receiver, however, is blind to Majestic recordings, using a differently named folder. Does it sometime abchecken on PC. / This is only for tuner recordings, not for playback of other files such as mp3. Where you can select the folders and subfolders freely. That seems to be a completely separate software for playback of TV recordings and other files.

TIMER:
- Selectable whether the set time only the transmitter should be switched on, or to start a USB recording
- Attention deception, there are 2 completely separate timer lists!
Once the normal via the menu, because you have to adjust everything + can manually.
And then another via EPG, because you can adjust anything further, also extend no end, for example. This timer list is "Booking", and you can find these EPG Timer list later just by pressing the EPG button. Strangely, caught my so far only test recording then to the minute on time, even took on 10min crap because the actual broadcast was delayed - but at the end of the delayed 10 minutes had it anyway! Up to the very last end of the guy that was cut off, although sent. Was that coincidence and is there a constant 10min automatic in it, or realize the thing maybe, when a film is really the end? Do I need to try again closer.

EPG (program info):
- EPG is relatively in detail depending on the broadcaster and mission, sometimes there are detailed descriptions of programs, often nothing
- In the EPG menu, the jump button to select is hard to find and illogical: press "2"! (Display "2 = Change")
- To get more information on the current program, you have to press 3 different keys: "EPG" / "2" / "3"! Easy would be, as with other devices, if you could do this, press several times on the INFO button, but that brings the Majestic just so exciting information such as transmitter power and frequency.

VIDEO TEXT:
Okay so far. While the button "TXT" from Majestic does not work, but the key to the original TV remote control.

DVD player:
- Operation okay, but pretty bitchy about the quality of the discs. One of my DVDs with some odd errors in it will not appear at the Majestic, but runs smoothly on 2 other players and the PC.
- Good: There is a RESUME function! As long as you do not change the DVD, you can continue watching right where you had previously turned off
- RETURN key acts here as a change key, for example, to be able again quickly jump back to the menu, and then again back to the current scene
- AB repeat is practically (unfortunately only for DVD, not for USB recordings)
(Possible, unfortunately, DVD only) Slow-Motion possible, only forward -

MEDIA PLAYER:
I've hardly been tested, but seems extremely rudimentary. From my few Internet video on the USB hard drive that thing has just detected a (mpg), and the well was still no sound.
Killer: MP3 playback works though - you can not fast-forward in the titles or anything though! So if you want to hear the end of a longer piece, you have to first play the whole part of the front off in normal playback. Corrosive, you can really forget.

REMOTE CONTROL:
Abundant confusing. Even after some time intensive testing we are still constantly on the search for the right key in the keyboard salad. Some keys are also two functions, depending on the function of DVD or tuner or USB. And to switch between these areas you have to often press a button every else hidden in the jumble. Without accurate reading of the label anything goes, so full living room lighting is called for, not a dim light. In addition, the transmitter module is very weak, because accurate targeting is called for, even from a distance of 1m.

Buttons on the device itself:
Open / Close
Play / Pause
Stop
A / (only switched on standby, ie current remains and USB hard drive continues until one pulls out the plug!) From

CONNECTIONS:
- Power cord (grown, 1m)
- SCART (1x, exit to the TV)
- ANTENNA (2x, pure + out)
- USB (1x, for Stick or hard disk)
