Something light, but unfortunately a lot of shade

As a substitute for a 5 year old Medion Navi I wanted to have a navigation system with TMC, street name announcement, lifelong possible map updates and for no more than 150 euros. I need the Navi rarely, so I wanted no Bluetooth etc.
And I've also met with the Nüvi 2445. Due to the many positive reviews I've ordered me.

The goods were delivered swiftly and intact. In the box were next to a car charger Navi, a mini-USB cable, a window mount and a Quick Start Guide.

After unpacking I have the Navi first charged NEM USB hub. Visit the Garmin side could have to pull an update on what would have claimed in my UMTS stick about 6 hours at 6 Mbit / s. That's why I can stay there.

Now I wanted to test the Navi on a 200 km tour. The tour went here from the west of Munich in the near Passau. I have in the route options selected the fastest route. One would also most economical (after manual input of the average consumption of the host vehicle and the current fuel prices) or the shortest route to choose. The aim of search was pretty fast. In the familiar QWERTY keyboard The software provides a only the letters that then give a place name. The same also in the street search. The Satelitensuche and the route calculation went pretty fast. So the Navi pinned in the car at the wheel and connected to the cigarette lighter. The car charger includes the TMC antenna. The bracket made down a stable impression and much either over the entire route.

When driving much to me that the announcement comes pretty early (about 300 meters before the turning). And it was told no street name. Both are example for me no-go's. In a strange city. I would rather, if the street name is announced and again shortly before turning again the invitation comes. Especially the last point is important to me, since it may well occur in cities that several side streets follow the densely populated. Driving through tunnel turned the Navi no prior problems. Despite Satelitenverbindungsabbruch the route was continued. Also the change from day to night vision went quickly. The display was easy to read. Also, the lane change assistant worked out great, especially because the signs looked exactly as you real.
Although I had the fastest route is selected, the Navi wanted to conduct a fairly lengthy route. Also switching to shortest route did not yield any new route despite recalculation. The Navi wanted to continue on motorways me continue. Only when I drove my known distance, was fairly quickly calculate a new route (which I wanted to have ultimately), which brought a 20-minute reduction in traveling time (arrival time changed dramatically). When you leave the route to refuel in Austria, I wanted the Navi constantly conduct back to Germany, although the road on the Austrian border is shorter. Only when I drove stubborn, the Navi then calculated the new route through Austria.

My Conclusion:

The Navi looks great, is easy to read and offers nice gimmicks. Because to me, but honestly does not really matter and I instead on a good route guidance attach importance, I can only awarded 3 stars for the life.

Toll I found

Bad I found
- No repetition of Abbie Give command has just before the turn or too early
- No street names despite Text-to-Speech
- The route calculation is too complicated for me

Ultimately, the negative points have so disturbed me that I sent the Navi back and I now have a Navigon 72 plus ordered. This says street names, repeatedly turning Encoder fault shortly before the turn and gives me 3 routes to choose from. In this specific case was precisely the one case, which is also the shortest route to Passau.
