I am not an expert in monitor technology. But I am quite power users and the private and professionally. I wanted a 27-inch monitor with a resolution of 2560 * 1440 possible with a gaming tauglichem IPS panel.
Why an IPS panel? Because simply me not like pale colors of TN panels or my standards have risen. But sooner were no good many IPS panels to play because of the high input lag. Then I read that the new AH-IPS panels from LG, which are installed in the Dell, a much lower input lag and a standard for IPS panel naturalized colors have. Not many monitor on the market fulfill the criteria specified for the same price (659) as the U2713H.
So I read many reviews and am always met with the Dell U2713H, the I bought promptly also. So far, I am more than satisfied. The desktop resolution of 1440p is simply superb.
Unfortunately, the famous Backlight bleeding can be observed. This usually does not bother. Is it, however, in the room a little darker and you look at a purely black image, so the Backlight bleeding is clearly visible in the corners. The perception of the Backlight bleeding is certainly individually different. The question is also how often the displayed image so dark / black that the Bleeding noticeable. A second copy was for an exchange unfortunately almost identical symptoms.
By the way I was able to loud humming noises during operation initially also, as reported in other reviews, watch / listen. I could expose the built-in USB hub as a troublemaker. Once I took the monitor from the USB port, everything was quiet. I've tried several USB ports of my computer and then found one which did not cause any buzzing sounds. This happens with me also with revision 06 of the monitor.
Other sources on the Internet, I understand that the display of some test pictures may produce a humming. However, it is unlikely that these purely technical test patterns can be displayed on his monitor.

+ Native resolution of 2560 * 1440
+ Extreme natural color reproduction compared to my 150 euros Samsung TN panel
+ Gaming compatible AH-IPS panel with acceptable input lag (see various test reports). I tested with Far Cry 3 and BioShock Infinite
+ Solid build quality and simple design
+ USB port and card reader on the side of the monitor
+ Stand is also ok and the monitor can be adjusted in all directions. Even Pivot is possible.
+ There were adequately supplied many connecting cables
+ The Dell Support / site service is really great. Have the monitor must replace 2 times. Each a day later I got delivered a replacement monitor.
# Negative
- Backlight bleeding clearly visible in the corners with a completely black picture on full screen in a dark room. Personally, I do not mind much because I have usually a little light in the room, so that I Backligh Bleeding unaware perceive in normal handling. Nevertheless, it falls to from time to time. Therefore a star deduction.

# Tips and Tricks
In any case, you should install the driver and the "Dell Display Manager" (DDM). Either from the enclosed CD or from the Internet.

* "DisplayPort 1.2" should be disabled, otherwise the DDM does not recognize the monitor.
* If you choose the DDM (see below) the manual mode, you should "Uniformity Compensation" or "Gleichmäßigk. Compensation" "calibrated" to "Calibrated" or set so that different brightness ranges are ausgegelichen on the screen.
## DDM
* If necessary, select and configure the automatic mode. I for example would be the principle uses the "Default Settings" in each Anwedung. When determined applications such as Bildberabeitung I put up to "sRGB".
