But now at length and in sequence: Whether a television also really suits a ultimately yes also depends largely on the desired application. Therefore, I would like to do with my review a good, reliable decision-making basis for those who are just flirting date with a new purchase. Maybe fit since my brief history about this: I grew with Sony - Walkman, first stereo, and the Pumuckl sequences were recorded on Sony Beta cassettes when I could not watch live on the (also supplied by Sony) TV. The early childhood embossed brand fetishism I'm decades not got rid of until my last Sony flatscreen but overall just a big disappointment was: brutal Clouding which is noticed even non-technical visitor - Sony, however, has seen no reason for exchange or repair. Sure, that can happen anywhere - but finally I have time to exercise on reason and feeling, where the Panasonic a chance.
Great performance on paper, they offer indeed all - of them who still can be blinded or even this looks as purchase basis, probably your own fault. Appetite I have, however, get through the preliminary test of Trusted Reviews (here is the link: [.....]), whose final conclusion is a reflection of my personal impression after several days testing actually 100%: "While well CLEARLY need to assess the 55CX700 in in much more controlled conditions with more varied content before we can recommend it, we struggled to find anything really negative to say about it, which translates: Although we still need to test in a more controlled environment to 55CX700 before we make a recommendation. can, it is for us right now really hard to write something negative about him and -. it is really such a real shortcoming, the Panasonic quite simply just not clear -.. some can do better, but then also noticeably more investment Sets. If the performance of the price compared to, I doubt that it is still significantly better here.
INITIAL & DESIGN
==================================================
My CX704 arrived without separate packaging, so my driver DHL now should know pretty much exactly what is in the living room with me. I would check the shipment upon receipt very well, because the more interior packaging rather sparse fails - and refuse if any damage acceptance in order to avoid any trouble (keyword Risk / liability).
The TV is then unpacked and set up quickly. The two (incidentally, quite elegant) acting standing feet are quickly criticized with four screws - manual superfluous, correct assembly is self-explanatory (and both feet as well as on the device itself is again indicated with R / L, on which side is one which skid - foolproof). Own phillips screwdriver should be prepared. The foot spacing is 110cm - much should therefore give the shelf, CONFIRMED 7 cm more space to each side of the TV itself can also be fitted on the arm / wall would be with suitable equipment problem, of course, the corresponding sockets on the. back available.
In conventional living room of Panasonic acts despite its 55-inch screen is not too bulky, which is probably due to its generally very delicate, slim design. The outer edge is held in a discreet, slightly matted gray - and a good piece looks again some from more expensive than it is in reality. For design lovers therefore a thoroughly apt choice, and something different than the usual plastic or black (this is the right movie experience too intrusive!) White.
Connected to power, HDMI angestöpselt about my 4K-capable Denon Receivers (interposed for Sony Playstation 3), a second HDMI cable to import material from my notebook, and placed an optical audio cable from the TV to the receiver. Finally, even the antenna cable connected and turned on by remote control (a mechanical on / off switch is missing - not really bad, hardly power in standby consumes according to my meter; otherwise depends my whole living room technology with receivers and Co. anyway on a power strip with Switch, I can only recommend).
The Panasonic can be set up fairly quickly with the remote control then. The actual manual precipitates rather scarce, but many more hiding in the Help menu, which can be controlled via the remote control. However, the system has a total so intuitive that no instructions are needed for the whole initial set - class for us men that we know, do everything yourself and look for commands in no case anywhere want
The transmitter device itself is not entirely reliable walked with me in the auto mode at the beginning, at the second attempt (switched from fast search to the intensive variant) was then, however, everything is fine.
Stations set up. Cable hang. Interaction with the receiver properly, without any additional settings. Wunderbar! Now just have to adjust the picture
PICTURE
==================================================
4K material's currently still in short supply, is of no streaming platform support (no wonder you guess at the data throughput rate; only Netflix wants here offer something, but currently only two series), so I have time TV program, DVDs , Blu-Rays and a few games at the Playstation thoroughly tested to make me a possible comprehensive and reasonably representative picture of my report can.
In short, the picture is one stunner! Knackscharf without but qualitatively inferior feedstock can act ridiculous, very natural colors in the basic settings, and - a black level to dream!
Room well darkened cinema mode on-screen settings, then a Blu Ray with many dark scenes simply wow. Clouding not worth mentioning, that may indeed despite good black levels any pleasure in spoiling device. No streaking in fast-moving scenes or movements, just clear, concise, straightforward. So technology for the living room should be, if it is to meet my taste. Also, the viewing angle is relatively wide, so that there will be no long mines at a movie night in a large group.
A word of warning: If you are used very bright colors, will be perhaps surprised at the beginning a little bit about the image pallor. The deceptive but vastly - Panasonic has just decided not already miss the monitor by default Mickey Mouse coloring and relies on a far more natural image heat. I'm a little sensitive on the subject, so I individually calibrate also all my computer and laptop monitors as manufacturers values for my taste therefore usually come too bright and unnatural. If one is, however, too long accustomed to the likes act sometime course and Panasonic - well, a little pale in comparison. As already written - the colors are in my opinion enormously well, both in standard and in the cinema mode (slightly lower color temperature, higher contrast). Per Individual settings can, however, easily the Kunterbunt mode reach, so whosoever likes or is used.
Second word of warning: The screen surface reflects light (although it actually looks very matt) - definitely clear enough to produce annoying reflections in improper lighting. That should perhaps note in interior design, and if the TV is intended for brightly lit common room (eg stay-room), I would tend to even rather advise against it, and look at other models. With an optimized room lighting (indirect lighting, light source not aligned with the screen surface) but not a problem, and it remains the joy of great colors, perfect contrast, fast response times and a ultimately just entirely coherent picture that both the TV program, as well as convinced with DVDs, Blu Rays and even the occasional gaming.
TON
==================================================
Well - tin says hello. Can the competition but also no better. Either receiver + matching wrap-around boxes acquire, or a kind of sound bar as a space- and money-saving interim solution. For regular TV program or not so demanding ears - also in terms of the volume - is the total sound perfectly fine.
CONNECTIONS + SPECIFICATIONS
==================================================
Standing in the description and in accordance with the usual standards, so I do not have to artificially fill space with copy & paste here. Three HDMI inputs are sufficient optical output for the TV program sound to the receiver is also there - fits. Important likely there already be the next point, namely ...
ERGONOMICS
==================================================
When switching from TV stations takes three seconds the best other performance values avail itself nothing and such a device would only disappoint and probably end up quickly at the flea market. In this respect, I have the Panasonic CX704 to be asked in terms of ergonomics as much as possible on my personal test - and am basically satisfied, but not enthusiastic.
Operating system is the relatively newly released Firefox OS My Home Screen 2.0. And - as always with new developments - to be show only really with the time-specific strengths and weaknesses. In this respect, I will certainly adapt in a few weeks or months again my review accordingly if I should discover something worth mentioning, what at first glance does not reveal the same.
Overall, the operating logic is built pretty well thought out and self-explanatory. Changing stations works well and also the input channels can be changed quickly. Network access, etc. can be easily implemented via WPS, as well as the manual input is not a major problem. For smartphones (iOS, Android) there is also a matching app, which is still not up and confident rather clunky and illogical - that does not fit, here needs to be urgently improved. And: my taste for the Firefox OS could well appeal to a bit snappier, which in my opinion is not really up to date - but admittedly also complain very, very high level, as it also does not really bother in the end and most users hardly is disturbing.
An external hard drive can make records - super! And USB Stick also import material. As far as everything fits, implemented meaningful + reasonable.
The apps again so are another matter - I have to admit, a Facebook app on the TV makes me really does not make sense. Netflix & Watch Ever since may already be meaningful. Big downer: There is no Amazon Instant Prime app for Panasonic! Arrrrrgh - that's a pity, but is supposed to Amazon and not at Panasonic. For me, not a doomsday for the PS3 yeah, there's a corresponding app, but would halt also great to have run along without another, additional device. What is not, however, can still be
In the first test I have Netflix incidentally not yet got it to work - there is quite a need of interpretation message that it still takes a little bit. Well: Wait and see. The apps are for me at best a gimmick, but that has more to do with my personal application profile - there is certainly sufficient Customers appreciate this feature more than I do.
No more no less, but also - All in all, fits the ergonomics. No wow factor, with which I - would have expected - probably if the really brilliant image.
3D function
==================================================
Not tested - here you would have to separately purchase a 3D active glasses, the costs accordingly. Since I am not a big fan of 3D material remains to be seen whether eventually grabs me the Rappel and I anschaffe a few glasses and not.
WHAT ELSE?
==================================================
Would not the red Netflix button on the remote control, you would think you would have there what from the 90s in his hand. I know Sony and Denon but otherwise - so modern design of the device is also so old-fashioned, the remotes come along. Not the end, for me is always a Logitech Harmony in action - but in spite of current updates is not compatible with the per se XY704 series that does not know them.
Therefore - before laboriously manually anlernt the thing, my field-tested tip here: Simply select the model "Panasonic TX-55AS740B If system detected by the Logitech Harmony and works mostly in a few weeks or months determined wirds give but also a suitable update...
CONCLUSION
==================================================
A stunningly beautiful picture when TV look at DVDs, Blu Rays and while gambling on the Playstation. No streaks. Fantastic black level. No significant clouding. Unproblematisches operating concept. Great design. Really worth every penny, the price is for the performance of the Hammer! Would have liked a point deducted in order not to be misunderstood as Claqueur - that I might be the absolutely brilliant Panasonic but do heavy lumps wrong. The five points he really deserved!
The deductions in the B-Note (ergonomics, ...) are then criticism on a high level. Are only the point of lighting really needs to be taken into consideration (see image), so that the CX704 in bright and direct-lit common room would not be the first choice for example for me.
Overall, I can finally say that I - I really love - in the few days where the Panasonic provides his services at my home! And that really comes to mind as a kind of technology junkie with relatively high demands nowadays no longer so simple. Well, Sony - I'm sorry, from the affair will now probably still a serious relationship ...
Questions about the device? I like to answer (if I know a helpful answer to). Otherwise, I would be happy about a very helpful clicking if my review was for you also. As written above: This is my first, honest and quite critical impression - that he fails altogether as positive, is quite simply the fact that the device is really good. However, should stand out more points me in the coming months, I will adjust my review course. Thanks for reading!
