Corsair Vengeance M95 gaming mouse black (Accessories)

Customer Review

HARDWARE ======================================
Haptics, processing, externals
- Super processing. In this regard, one of the best PC mice, which has come under my hands.
- Keystroke excellent (also side buttons I found from the second stage ago not unpleasant). Not too loud, not too spongy, just right.
The problem that the keys were to operate only with increased effort, I can not understand. All buttons located near my thumb can be operated with normal effort. Here I could see no disadvantages. With your thumbs, I can, without allocating the hand, reaching 5 buttons, the remaining 4 buttons only when I umlege hand. But that's OK so, because this are the 5 keys really blind to use. In order to reach all the buttons with your thumbs, this concept of Corsair could (what the unique key arrangement concerns) can not be realized. Then the key would have to be smaller, which would complicate the intuitive operation. I find the keys with your thumbs extremely pleasant to find, and I have been very rarely clicked together. In Naga, or G600 mine is often happened.
I just put on the back key functions that are rarely needed.
- The wheel is a two-way scroll, to be clicked and again with the option. So three functions met the scroll wheel. The grid is one of the best that has so far under my hands, it's fun "to the wheel to turn." Perfect!
- All seams and transitions processed just brilliant.
- The cable is sheathed with textile and makes a stable and high-quality impression. Also, the USB port is meticulously crafted. The cable length should be about 2 meters.
- For this, the mouse looks very classy. A real eye-catcher, especially since it somehow "value" radiates.
- It just makes so fun the mouse in hand to take. The hand is relaxed (rather have smaller hands), no pain in the wrist.
-The Mouse slides perfectly on the tabletop.
- Well, in my opinion, Logitech, Razer, Roccat or Sharkoon can all wrap in comparison. All in all you can not beat this mouse in this category.
- I've tried the "white" and "black" version. In the white version the surface is smooth and held in "glossy". The hand is literally "stick it". In the black version, the surface is not as smooth and this feels more comfortable for me.
- There are in this mouse apparently a number faulty production batches. The first mouse in white was impeccable. When black mouse it worked from the 3rd mouse. It was always about the side thumb buttons ... Either partially not click point exists (key could be push without resistance) or were so loosely incorporated that at a pressure on the button loosely remained stick to the fingers, as if not would all be stuck in your place. I hope I could express myself properly (at the end of the review I go again on a). So there is the manufacturing tolerances "are a little too generous". The best try, until you have caught the right one. For me it was the 3rd time, all the buttons are now properly.

In general, the processing is just great and excellent. That is my objective and partly subjective opinion, as well as the rest of the review :-)

Responsiveness
- Have the mouse tested about 3 hours and there remained nothing to be desired.
- I have tried in various stages Sampling, DPIs have 600-5900 tried (more I use not), and the pointer is running smoothly and clean. Everything great.
- A very interesting feature, which unfortunately so far only found in Corsair (compared Razer, Sharkoon, Roccat, Logitech), is the possibility that one straight lines and straight characters can. That is, the cursor is in straight lines intolerant of slight camera shake. This can be useful and helpful for. Example, in Photoshop for waivers or CorelDraw in hands-free mode completely. Great idea. These can be easily switched on or off (on driver), or you create a profile for image editing with this feature turned on.
- The mouse glides perfectly over the tabletop and the mouse pointer is always nice with. Again, everything is done correctly. I've noticed something negative in any way.

SOFTWARE ========================================
And now the tiresome subject of drivers and key settings in computer mice. Even during the 2014 Naga Razer I have experienced a wahrliche disappointment. The Corsair is there also not error-free and is weakening also in this point.

To this end, I would like to briefly point out what else: I first ordered this mouse in white and was within about 3 hours, the back in a box and went back to Amazon. I could not adjust the mouse, because the driver software was so illogical and many functions have simply been missing.

Until I later encountered in search of a keyboard on the K50 of Corsair and so impressed by the keyboard was that I have the more fully engaged in the software as part of me.
After about 6 hours I could deal with the driver. So I just ordered the mouse again (driver of keyboard is the structure and functionality identical to mouse), only this time in black. Meanwhile, I can deal with this driver and the essential and missing features for me I realized on foreign tools. But it was not easy and I do not think the software for user-friendly. The good thing is, that if once understood and adjusted, everything is OK first :-)

-Only I tried (possible hardware profiles as well) to realize the key bindings and other settings of the mouse pointer on software profiles.
If someone can not do anything with the issue hardware or software profile, simply go to the page of Corsair, download the driver and there is precisely specified in the manual, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
-Here The shortcuts that I use over and over again:
"Close" (ALT + F4)
"Minimize" (Win + Down arrow)
"Open specific folder" (path through)
(Can be integrated in most drivers and selected) "start music playback and pause"
»Open e-mail program" (path to the program to enter)
"Window to the right more than half the screen space Arrange" (Win + Right Arrow)
»Window left more than half the screen space Arrange" (Win + Left Arrow)
"Forward" (mostly already integrated in drive)
"Back" (mostly already integrated in drive)
"Mute" (in drivers often already integrated)
»Submit passwords with KeePass" (CTRL + ALT + A)

These functions are useful for my office use on PC and ease my everyday life in carrying out my duties immensely. In particular, "Close" and "Minimize" because I can save a lot of "mouse routes", as you each time the X or the yes - must be controlled and aim the top right corner. By clicking the middle of the window to the corresponding button, and even the window is minimized to or. Comfortable! When I sit on another PC to do something there I realize how annoying it is, every time it to control the mouse.

What I noticed in the software:
- Close command is directly integrated in the driver and can be selected.
- Minimize command must be programmed on macro shot. Nothing is pre-programmed. An untrained user needs this first shortcut bring in experience (there are two, one is not worth much because it is not properly implemented by many programs, this is ALT + Spacebar + N). The shortcut Win + down arrow key works flawlessly with all windows. This can be taken as a macro.
- Music playback and unfortunately I could not program is not integrated in the driver. I know of no cross Windows shortcut for it (except for the Windows Media Player, which makes no sense here, since I use Foobar2000 or MusicBee).
Here lack both "Play / Pause", "mute", "high / low", "Jumping forward / backward", etc. So nothing "on board".
Logitech is when it comes to media features, a true Eldorado (almost everything is already in the driver integrated)! Simply select only the function. So simple and customer-friendly is, basta.
As I have helped me: the music player, a global shortcut for "Play / Pause" and using the free tool "Autohotkey" a shortcut for mute. On the rest I have waived or do it on the keyboard.
- Start programs (in my case, e-mail) is possible and has also functioning normally, but inexplicably only in software mode.
- Open folder I can not adjust. In my opinion this is not possible, or at least I have the option not found.
- Arrange window left or right goes beyond macro shot (Win key + arrow left or right). Works flawlessly.
- Forward and back and properly. If the driver already included and can be easily selected.
- Insert passwords with KeePass is no problem. That's what I put on the wheel button. Just set it on macro shot.

To make all the settings in the driver software of Corsair I think is very illogical and very user unfriendly. Although I know my way around well with Windows, I had to ponder long as I transfer an internally generated in the software profile on the mouse first. And you have to look for, that's for a warning ;-)

Also to "at all" to use the macro functions, I have pondered long. The guys at Corsair would do well to consult times by a company when it comes to ease of use, understanding of functions on the part of customers, software logic, etc. Because certainly goes good stuff.

I use the hardware mode, as in the software mode, certain key combinations are not recognized when playing. In hardware mode, everything works just fine. Another advantage of the hardware mode: if the M95 has been set once, the driver can be completely switched off and the profiles can be called in with the mouse button click. I use for the two small arrow buttons next to the left mouse button. But I can at any time switch between 6 profiles. Another advantage is that it does not run in the background drivers (for Win relief while minimizing compatibility issues). If I need the driver, I call this using a batch file created by me, I make the necessary adjustments, these decide to broadcast on the mouse and then every Corsair applications be closed again (input mask and driver) and the M95 runs flawlessly. If anyone is interested, just a brief comment on this review, otherwise it blows here the frame ;-)

And now purely informative yet when it comes to installation of firmware and drivers:
It is in the package at no CD and you have to go to the home page of Corsair and download the installation package. There are two files to install. Once an application in Windows must be installed to update the firmware on the mouse itself (unless, of course, the firmware is already up to date). Probably you have to install a new application, which in turn brings the next update files with it at the next update the firmware again. Not an elegant solution ... I know it so that is something easily done only on an .exe file, which also does not have to be installed. Then delete .exe file and firmware is on it. But I do not feel necessarily disturbing.
Then is a second installation file attached, the actual software for the operating system where you done with the mouse, the whole settings. This is virtually the user software.

I have the mouse briefly angetestet in games and can nothing negative to say. To program simple key strokes, it should be no problem. With me everything (numbers, letters, space bar, etc.) went in hardware mode, the software-mode a few keystrokes were not recognized correctly.

That it in software is better, shows Logitech. My MX Revolution can all features mentioned above and much more. As for features, Logitech is driving moderate for me the measure of all mice. Absolutely flexible in the settings as me absolutely nothing missing. A real treasure trove!
From the processing I find the Corsair M95 a lot better than other mice. As for software, however, is much room for improvement here.

If anyone is interested, as a neat, flexible and extensive driver software looks for a mouse, is welcome to look at the "Customer Product Images" to the Logitech G600. I have the images uploaded by my driver settings so that an image you can do it yourself. Here is the link: Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse Optical Corded (USB, 20 keys, 8200 dpi) black

SUMMARY ===============================
The hardware I forgive 4 stars. Why, when it deserves it 5 stars? Because apparently many faulty M95 are in circulation, which is for me a lack of production control. It can not be that the customer has to go looking for the defective goods, in particular in view of the fact that this mouse costs about 85 euros.

The software largely served its purpose, however, is anything but customer-friendly. The learning phase can last hours and a lot of mental work (depends on how advanced anyone with computer applications).
Furthermore, I miss here too basic and fundamental functions, such as mute, rIsK and Play / Pause and simple Windows functions (z. B. Minimize or folders). Some of these functions can be realized only through third-party tools, which will certainly definitely overwhelm many inexperienced users. Another disadvantage and for me incomprehensible: If someone uses this mouse in combination with a keyboard from Corsair, he must install a total of 4 applications. 2 time tool for firmware update (both mouse and keyboard) and 2 times the actual driver software (both mouse and keyboard). There is no universal driver.
In total are 2 stars for the software the greatest feeling, especially considering the price of this PC mouse.

4 + 2 = 6: 2 = 3

So far I have used the Revolution MX (about 5 years) and as part of the acquisition of a PC mouse tried the following:
- Genius Gila 8200 dpi 12-button mouse
- Revoltec RE122 FightMouse Elite
- Perixx MX-2000B
- Trust 18101 GXT33
- Logitech G600
- Sharkoon Drakonia black 8200dpi
- Razer Naga Gaming Mouse 8200dpi
- Logitech G602
- Logitech G700s
- Logitech G9x
- Roccat Kone XTD Max

This PC mice for me were wrong. The reasons were different, such as:
1. documents not well in the hand. Either discomfort or joint pain.
2. Several major keys were very difficult to reach.
3. Keys were not intuitively accessible, constantly false clicks.
4. Processing was inferior.
5. Privacy policy of the company was not acceptable.
6. Important functions in the driver did not exist, nor possible.
7. In UEFI Bios unusable, so it would have a spare mouse exist

Although I forgive this mouse 3 star (for me equated with grade "Satisfactory"), it is of all computer mice that which what hardware and software that comes my claims closest.
There was only one mouse, which I would prefer over the M95. That was the Logitech G600. Not "all" as well as processes the M95, and also was not as comfortable in the hand, it agreed the overall package (particularly given software). Unfortunately, I had such violent Wrist pain, which have not abated over a period of 2 weeks that I had to return it with a heavy heart with the G600.

The M95 was so for me the 2nd choice and I can recommend it. What should be noted however:
- Consider in advance whether the above-mentioned lack of software features are needed and whether one is ready to this "tinker yourself". To me it was worth it.
- Buyer ensure that all thumb buttons function properly. This means:
1. Is all the click point available? So when the button is pushed, it makes the usual click? In my first there was a button without clicking. The settled "klicklos" simply press.
2. Are the buttons too tight and not too spongy? In the second order of "click point" was available everywhere, but sat a thumb button so loose that when you release after the jump, this kind of "stick to the fingers remained" and I could even hear the moving, as amended ,

When you have finally caught a neat unprocessed and be "learned by" in the software, you will have fun at the PC mouse :-)
