George A. Romero is the founding father of the modern zombie film.
Slowly shuffling undead and crass handmade splatter effects are his trademark. Mixed to the blood-soaked FX with a bit of social criticism, you have a typical Romero in the player.
Taking into only his OF THE DEAD movies, you realize quickly that the director has staged a zombie movie for each new generation of moviegoers, marked by the spirit of the times and the available technical means.
The young and YouTube mockumentary-generation gets the doyen DIARY OF THE DEAD purposed whether me as old-school fan like it or not!
Because I grew up with Romero's movies and appreciate its almost revolutionary zombie visions know I approached very skeptical this innovative Shaky camera film.
At the end of the film I still have not developed a fondness for this innovative shooting style, but I have to acknowledge that I Romeros movie has not so much annoyed as other films of this kind. Maybe it's the decent actor, maybe there are the sparse gore effects the handmade or PC handmade voices match the scenes shown, or maybe it is the common and black humorous ideas, I get to see, I must say, Diary of the Dead has entertained Me!
Bottom line, I would recommend this movie only experimental zombie movie fans or mockumentary fans. All, who prefer old-fashioned in zombie movies, Romero should go, Romero ago - make a wide berth DIARY OF THE DEAD.
