Different, but not necessarily worse. The attempt at a decision-making tool.

I think some of you will know at all the different reviews with their totally contradictory statements not know exactly what they should do now: Buy or Not? Especially the veterans from the community of course have their cherished game habits and find it difficult to leave the run-in path and comfort zones.

Here an attempt at a more or less objective decision support:
1) Stay calm and be travel with neither euphoria nor frustration of others. The others play with their Sims quite unlike you.
2) After "89 Features Missing from The Sims 4" googling and read the article (unfortunately only available in English)
3) Consider what the individual points for oneself or signify their own style of play, especially the points listed at the beginning of the list (paragraph MAJOR FEATURES MISSING IN THAT WERE TS3).
4) make clear, that it is "The Sims 4" is the Base Game without any extension in. There is a Rezi to SIMS4, in which the author has complained that there are not even horses and witches in the game. Sorry, but that's nonsense.
5) Consider whether the business model of the Sim franchises - wants to do with, without getting upset about it - Expansion Packs and additional content only for cash. When that consistently permeates, come quickly a few hundred euros.

I think that you should buy an opinion and ultimately the decision / not buy something easier.

My opinion, moored to the above points:

to 1) I am building a lot and make SIMS to make the pose player photo series. Family development over generations does not interest me.

to 2 + 3) For me, a major setback: no Create a Style tool (CAST), and thus more likely to back if you want to change but what - the Rumgepfriemel with decompiled * .package files (SimPE says hello). An even fouler floor limit in construction. The SIMS2 could build a cheat as high as you wanted, at sims3 warens yet 4 Floors, now there are only 3. However, I knew that through the above list before they buy and could think about whether I wants to engage in it.

4) I still remember well the transition from SIMS2 on sims3. Of course I was disappointed not to clever clothes, no attractive hairstyles that animations 1: adopted 1 from SIM2, no mating furniture, again only this Amerikano dolls house Kitsch and all SIMS looked like pink marzipan pigs (the players in UK and US call the "Pudding Face"). I fervently hoped that the transition from sims3 on SIMS4 would not be much worse.

to 5) Yes, I let 'me harnessed to the cart. I habs times roll over: My SIMS2 / 3 Collection with all EP has cost me around 1000 (one thousand) euros. Although spread over 10 years still a lot of money for a couple of bits and bytes. On the other hand, there is a terrific community of modders on the internet that - for nothing and just so - share the most amazing clothes, hairstyles and objects with a. The best pieces of my collection are certainly not from EA. And last but not least the brilliant Awsome-Mod of Pescaro and Twallans NRaaS Mod Suite, without the m. E. sims3 is not playable. That makes me confident that there will be good content for SIMS4 beyond EA and its money printing mesh.

Eventually I got me then the Premium Edition ordered from Amazon and get time on publication day.

The game is different. Actually no successor sims3, rather, one could say sims3 and SIMS4 have parallel from SIMS2 developed two quite different approaches to program a life simulation.

Mir gefällts with restrictions (no CAST, ridiculous height limit hence only 3 star), the feeling is still there but somehow. So I think if the modding scene has come back up to speed and some expansion pack are there who SIMS4 have quite the potential to compete with the previous versions.

Just different, but not necessarily worse.
