Everything for me incomprehensible, certainly not at the price!
My problem was: My micro MediaCenter Pc (W7 64 bit) had only one SPDIF (Toslink) - output and of course the usual microphone jack output. My older Logitech pit system 5.1 but had only the typical 3 colored cinch connections (Bass, Surround, middle), for 5.1 So what had happened. I'm not a freak hifi, not a computer expert, technical layman, I want the car propelled only hear just at the DVD movie from the left also left. So a typical normal customer problem - quite normal, and no solution to be found on the net.
But what to do? I was analog converters for 50-250 euros or else so expensive mischief, buy the non-technical staff so even with adapter cables, micro stereo systems, the sound box from the Devil, digital. Then I remembered the phrase "external sound cards" on, and while googling was the halt very often occupied by Logilink. Good advertising, somehow tampered with, I thought.
And can be found everywhere on the net only photos of the box, on which are printed 2 of those things. Obviously, to show all ports on a picture, I thought to myself. But maybe that part is yes but "double-decker" and the size of a shoe box, and actually looks like on the package. That would not at all, because the "aesthetic nature in the family" is not interested in technology, but that "there next to the TV is not such a big ugly box is".
I bought fresh nevertheless decided, encouraged by price and some positive reviews and descriptions that I made it clear that that would solve my problem.
It came - fast (only 2 days at lets-sell!) And well packed - the Logilink Soundbox, wrapped in a small box, all parts were thus attended: Box, USB cable, driver CD, descriptions. The box is not much bigger and heavier than a cigarette pack, by no means unattractive or "unwertig". One should but much too bright LEDs actually taping a small piece of tape, otherwise the ceiling during the evening television actually the ceiling is always blue illuminated.
The multilingual short descriptions are limited in fact to what one can say in general for the connection in the face of today multiform PC Systems: Connecting the device (otherwise bleats the CD driver setup: "device not recognized"), install drivers and "there you go ". Applies to W2000, W2003, XP, Vista, W7.
Went so not with me, but special "computer expert" with deeper knowledge one must not be in order only once to turn off the old sound card in the Control Panel of Windows 7 under the sound settings and to register the new external card as "Standard". Logically, if the old card is logged into the system, the new can not go. For Logilink can not, because these are somewhat impractical and not intuitive settings in Win. 7
Time to connect: 5 minutes. Just the three boxes plug for the middle, treble, bass tuck (the box can different systems up to 7.1, but I have, of course, can not test, also optical Toslink cables I have not yet). Then turn click USB power supply to PC. You can dranstecken also via the optical inputs other devices (hi-fi, DVD player), on top of the box are also volume control and "mute switches", probably for laptop owners who switch manually - for me disappears Ding behind the TV and is not operated manually, but only remotely via software. However, the optical inputs and outputs appear to me to be unique selling point of the part, especially at the price you can find other external sound card with something on the net not.
After the Install CD right, an icon appears in the taskbar, ok, not for aesthetes, but also not to Eierabschrecken. If you click on it, you can test the individual speakers with a test sound (a lady always says to "left surround", etc). Then the usual gimmicks and effects to simulate a hall, a padded cell, bathroom, sewer pipe (!! why the entrance was found in the audio world of thought the driver manufacturer, a mystery to me is) (!! Again, there must obviously be grotesque customer requirements), etc ., then another software simulation of 7.1 (goes with me not logically) and a karaoke function, what-do-I-like works.
The sound is ok, my 5.1.- boxing talk at all, operate all driver functions. Package promises support for 48 / 44.1 KHz sampling rate during playback and recording. S / PDIF optical digital input and output. Jacks for 3.5 mm plug, USB 2.0, USB Audio Device Class Specification 1.0 and USB HID class spec. 1.1.
Music, DVD, BluRay effects, everything sounds pure. No hum, crackle, tubes. And of course there through the speakers a small crackles when power comes on the boxes; again something Logilink has no responsibility. For the price a really "super-I-became-me-that-I-the-same-for-much-less-money did-get-" - thing.
So before I write a hymn and if I absolutely had to say something negative: The LED might be darkened; yea, and the description of his detail, yes. But the case has now also no non passiger plastic Tinnef with crooked Gußgraten, and it is not true after all also that there should be on the homepage no drivers (guckstuhier:.? [...] More [... ]
So: Take heart, it's me satisfied. (And I get nothing for it by the company !!)
