Love Army (CD)

Customer Review

Red Alert! Red Alert! Dallas is back! But no potatoes, not the vintage TV series, but the red-haired Australian, who in an album, Sound Painter (released in 2013) was moved from illustrious unknown to one of my darlings. We find with this album, Love Army, always accompanied by his bearded guitarist lefty Jeff Curran. Now is Zane Rosanoski who sits behind the battery. The group has traveled the world for two years, left traces in many festivals, notably in France, as Dallas had a crush on our beautiful country, where it is supported by the stable Verycords. This new album is a small bomb, I warn you now. It is a very varied album, which enables us to discover a group in the making, that nothing seems to scare.

As Sound Painter, their second album, we attack with a piece (Success Is The Best Revenge) very successful, with the bass drum intro that Dallas Frasca we had already used. We find the sound a little trash in the group, except that the chorus is more pop, a real hit potential (rock radio, if you hear me?). Even hear keyboards (arg!). On this arch catchy chorus, I think it is somewhat reminiscent of some good pieces of rock Texas. The guitars are still quite bluesy and you will note in passing an amazing thing about Jeff Curran. He is left-handed but plays on a normal right-handed guitar with strings so the reverse !!

In short all that well hand and it goes very well especially since You Are Beautiful is a super catchy title, which made Dallas prowess with her voice between Janis Joplin and Skin of Skunk Anansie. The theme is that people who are not in the current standards of beauty and who suffer. Dallas releases: "You are beautiful, the way you are ... That". I also recommend the video, which asks you to show your credentials before viewing because it shows the naked people. This is a video that does a little thinking, which is not often the case.

If I love this second piece, I'm on my knees for the third, Today. The song of Dallas is beautiful, with a small side of Tracy Chapman. This piece is irresistible I'm surprised he has not been taken as the first single. I almost tear in the eye with every listen. It's punchy and chorus is a killer, with his strange little background I have trouble identifying (harmonica, accordion or guitar slidée, hard to say). Suzy On My Mind is a ska punk damn good piece of species and Lizard Boy, the clip is already available, is another amazing piece in which Dallas had a break with mouth noises. It's original and it does. Take a look at the clip.

Here in All Long, there is a quiet piece, placed on acoustic guitar; the song of Dallas is softer, it looks like in that song the voice of Claudio Sanchez (Coheed & Cambria). The piece remains minimalist with a discreet bass drum and tambourine as two-thirds, there where it explodes a minute wild riffs before ending in serenity the beginning. Dallas Frasca like contrasts. The quiet time is extended with a sublimely sung piece, softer; the chorus rises and it is very successful because it takes you to the guts.

And then what happens Love Army, piece of ten minutes, very Led Zeppelin in style (one thinks immediately of No Quarter and the live version of the film The Song Remains The Same). I am in love with this slow pace, the two-note bass, massive, and this amazing song. Dallas explained in his interview in 2013 have been influenced by Led Zeppelin; and there, it is equally undeniable that damn good. The song has a psychedelic break that frankly reminds delusions duo Page / Plant on stage. The chorus is quite stoner saturated, almost Sabbath-ian. A good slap!

Rise is a good piece rather stoner in style, mid tempo and well sung; while Corazon En La Seda ends the album on a note of sweetness to the classical guitar. Sorry, but the effect of espagnolisant nylon strings and singing is sublime Dallas, almost whispered, give you, I am sure, little shivers. Some powerful riffs come to surprise the listener and a guitar solo (there are not really other in the album) is very inspired calls on the piece that ends gently. The sound and style of solo reminiscent somewhat Uli Jon Roth in old (true) Scorpions.

This album is like a fabulous kaleidoscope: moving from one song to another, uttering ha, ho, hu, diners and listening loop!!!. It is a downright addictive experience. Thank Verycords have illuminated the beginning in 2015 with artists like Dallas Frasca and Danko Jones, both candidates in my top 5 of the year; yes, already! With this third album, be sure that Dallas Frasca is a group that will explode. So, do not be as followers and join the Love Army ...
