The Xperia I ordered from Amazon and received it a week ago.
The Xperia U has installed an Android operating system. This is developed by Google. Many applications (widgets) therefore correspond to Google programs. When setting up the phone therefore a mail account with Google is very helpful - many widgets would without a Google Account will not work.
Almost everything that I previously knew from my old "standard mobile phone," I had forgotten, however, since the menu structure and the operation thus can not be compared.
The Xperia U fulfilled my opinion all claims that you can make to a modern phone.
The operation is very easy and largely intuitive, a manual is not the way in the delivery, however can be downloaded from the Sony site without registration.
Discovering the menu structure and the preinstalled programs is exciting, although I was initially overwhelmed with the many options.
The processor of the phone has 1 GHz and, together with the 512 MB of RAM for a superfluid operation and rapid processing of commands.
The camera was secondary for me, on a 8 megapixel camera I have therefore placed no value. Are contrary to expectations, the photos the camera in spite of the smaller resolution (5 megapixels) razor sharp, the colors are very powerful, the delay / closing time is very short and videos run very smoothly.
The memory is 8 GB and is not expandable, this ensures a small weakness to other phones is however perfectly adequate for my purposes. However, anyone who wants to use a lot of the photo and video function or want to install a lot of games is better off with another phone, however.
The Xperia U can be linked various email accounts, go so you can read e-mail, write and delete. (Internet connection required) In addition, you can, as long as a Google account exists, synchronize all contacts, calendar entries, pictures and videos with the Google account. If you lose your phone, the data is not gone for good, also puts the memory shortage, because you can outsource and retrieving your data at any time as needed. A very handy device.
On a mobile phone, a PDF reader and a program is read to create and edit Office documents (Office Suite) installed.
There is an app that you can use as a navigation device, with another app can browse the site around for interesting places (museum, theater, cinema, restaurants) as well as gas stations, shops and things like that. These are displayed as needed on a Google Maps map, address and description are also available.
For the price comparison, there is a bar code scanner (works pretty well), and for the
Interested in music, there is an app for recognizing songs. (Start program, hold the phone close to the sound source before the information comes to the song and the artist)
The compact design is very pleasant, with the SIM card (it is not a Micro SIM) weighs 112 grams and the Xperia U is very good in the hand. Writing and operated with one hand works without problems. The portrait keyboard is relatively small and made me initially for typos. After 2 days, however, this was no longer a problem for me. Of course, the Xperia man in landscape mode use one then has a larger keyboard. One can choose whether Quertztastatur is (as with a PC) or a Tipptastaur (like the mobile phone with T9 function) used for writing.
The battery I had initially 2 times a day load, which was of course at the extreme use.
Slowly loading levels off in every 2 days. I write a few daily SMS / Whats App Nanchrichten / emails, telephone for about 20 minutes, Surf 30 minutes in net and use the other features and programs for about 2 hours.
All in all, I do not miss the Xperia U, I even get more than I expected.
