Entry-level camera that is fun

This little camera has grown me out of the box to the heart and the other tests have further deepened the good first impression.
The Olympus VG 130 is pleasantly small, but fits comfortably in your hand and is easy and safe to use. Despite plastic housing makes it a sophisticated look. The operating knobs made of metal to speak precisely because nothing wobbles and unlike many touchscreen you will not permanently functions that you did not want to respond. The required lithium battery is included in the package, an SD card not. Since the camera but has a small internal memory, you can still take it immediately after charging in operation and try first snapshots. I have tentatively another camera taken from the map and placed in the Olympus, which went smoothly. The card was detected immediately and created a separate folder for the Olympus-images on the card; the existing data are preserved.
With the camera comes a printed manual for the first steps, a more detailed manual is included on the software CD. I have neither need to use because the camera is very clearly structured and many steps are self-explanatory, if you are basically already familiar with modern technical "helpers" such as camera, MP3 player or smartphone.
I as Mac users had a positive eye-opening experience: to connect the camera to the USB port and they went to sign on the desk like a hard drive with direct accessibility problems. I have always taken for granted until I got 2 other cameras from another manufacturer in which this does not work automatically, and in which I have to use the supplied software, which greatly disturbs me.

The quality of images has really impressed me. Even in automatic mode, the camera is sharp and colorful and appealing images, without having to try many settings. For difficult lighting conditions you can adjust the ISO setting and manually switch the flash manually or automatically. In addition to useful settings such as macro shooting, continuous shooting mode and panorama mode there are gadgets like the Pop Art filter, Fisheye or the line-drawing mode and much more. The volume of the cameras can be separated by camera function tones (there are 3 different Tonsets available) and adjust movie playback volume.
The movie recording I do not need, for testing but I have made a small clip with hands-free swing of the wrist. The recording was very successful and showed me that you have to absorb not only static pictures that everyone will remember at a party or a family gathering.

You want to go make a family party, garden party or with the children useful snapshots with a pocket-camera and not to spend much money? Then you should include the Olympus VG-130 definitely on the short list.

Addition to my review: Meanwhile, I have also used a number of times the camera for recording movies (without sound) and am thrilled. Although freely received from the hand of the films are uniquely sharp and not blurred. Also you can select very precise and filming the shot with the zoom function. I use with the camera filmed raw material to cut together short films and put on Youtube. The quality is amazing for a camera in this price range. I still have another camera (another brand), which almost cost three times the Olympus. Neither the video nor the images of these expensive camera can hold a candle to the VG-130. So you can (unfortunately?) Not always just go by price.
