This year, Nikon has brought three beautiful little bridge cameras on the market. The L340 is the best of them. The pictures is not to look at first glance. They are only slightly darker, the colors a little stronger than the L840, which is a higher price range. The zoom can be proud of and the image stabilization does a good job. The camera has 20 megapixels. This does not affect the quality of images, but does not hurt and it is still often the case that will be taken when buying on the number of megapixels. During the day hardly rustles the camera at dusk sees something different, but the menu offers the twilight mode. The captures some and so makes photography even fun when you do not want to stay long with manual settings up. Add to that the camera is handy. It lies well in the hand, which of course is also beneficial. Where it loses much of L840, is in the processing. No question, the lens is fine, the screen is good, and good to see even in direct sunlight. However, the flap for the battery compartment is not the best with the best intentions. She looks rickety and I struggled to close it. I doubt if they hold out long. Since we're on the batteries, powered the L340 with four double-A batteries. Whether that is considered as pre-or disadvantage, is left to the buyer. He who fears additional costs should fall back on rechargeable batteries. The housing is made of plastic, but does not look cheap. Slimmed are also the functions of the small camera. The menu looks somewhat sparingly, but nevertheless provides presets as portraits, landscapes or even sepia shots and photos in Monochrome. Just a pity that you can instantly share not because, unlike their big sisters features the L340 does not have WiFi or other ways to make the images instantly on the net. This is actually indispensable today. The video function works well and on sunny days succeed the movies easily. On rainy days, the picture is not so great, but again, no one should expect miracles. Conclusion: The L340ist a nice base model, succeed well with the photos. Technical finesse needs but no one expected. If you just want to hold memories, is welcome to access here. If you're looking gadgets, maybe you should think about the next price range.
