Europe's tribute album to the 70s

War of Kings (Audio CD)

Customer Review

According to the testimony of Joey Tempest, it is the album they always wanted to do, in accordance with their heroes from youth times.

Well, it sounds well - Deep Purple, Rainbow or Led Zep sound almost everywhere, sometimes almost too close to the originals ("Praise You", "Nothin 'To Ya"), "Doctor Doctor" of UFO is also times cited ("Days Of Rock n Roll"), and finally bowed to with the instrumental "Vasastan" (only "deluxe version") in front of Gary Moore's "Parisienne Walkways" - funny, at the end of the song is again the theme song alluded!

That may now read rather negative, but it was indeed so announced, so I have hardly the Europe of "The Final Countdown" expected times. Because this sound only slightly at "California 405" or "Second Day", and since only the chorus.

I rate the album as a kind of tribute album, not as a direct Europe-working, well-made 70s Hard Rock, including Hammond organ -. A bonus point there for the strong vocals of Tempest, which has significantly risen in volume and expressiveness in age, and the guitar work of John Norum - 7.5 out of 10, so 4 stars!
