Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 Digital Camera (10 Megapixel, 12x opt. Zoom, 2 "display, image stabilizer) (Electronics)

Customer Review

To put it straight to the point: a bridge camera like the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-50 EC is not an SLR, and you should not compare apples and oranges. If you're looking to compare, then you have to be limited to the bridge cameras with superzoom segment, and here the Lumix mE is currently unbeatable.

As a graphic designer I have been photographing for about 10 years many advertising motifs themselves. And I often need high-quality background material for assembly or Scan in good weather on the fly campaign motifs outdoors. So far I have a D-SLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) used, but not the right lenses had often found doing or handling simple to complicated for quick fixes.

I have therefore bought the Lumix to get the best possible images of a compact camera, and this requirement fulfills the unit. I find it unnecessary here to go into all the technical details, because this is enough meaningful tests available on the Internet. I will therefore deal only with the image quality and the main advantages and disadvantages.

1. Picture Quality
I've tried some other cameras, recorded identical motifs at identical settings and comparing the images on the monitor and the printout. The Lumix strikes in the segment up to 800 euros everything? only the RAW images of identical Leica V-Lux 1 are on a par, while the JPEGs of the Lumix Leica even much better as). The resolution is brilliant in spite of the allegedly undersized 1.8 "chips, the white balance works nachgemessenerweise excellent, the color aberration moves in the tolerable range and can be well balanced by provided software. Image noise is present, but very low (always in comparison with other compact cameras, of course, provide professional cameras better results)

Key Benefits:
- The camera is very fast ready and provides acceptable focusing and tripping times
- The autofocus can be turned off, the camera will then focus manually on the lens
- The lens is absolute top class - only minimal edge distortion / vignetting, very bright
- The range of functions and the setting options are outstanding for a bridge camera.
- The camera is quiet and well because of their size and their weight in the hand
- You is easy to use
- The main functions are accessible via Quick Menu to simple button
- It has a RAW mode and saves the images at the same time as addition JPEG
- The image stabilizer can be variably adjusted and is very helpful in Beölichtungszeiten between 1/10 and 1/60
- The camera makes besides still pretty good movies in resolutions up to HDTV
- The bundled software is also sufficient for ambitious amateur photographers
- The camera supports memos to images - so you can talk to a captured motive short "on tape" his thoughts
- The folding and swiveling monitor is extremely useful for shooting from awkward angles - or for paparazzi, because you can also reverse and shoot over heels over a wall ;-)

Main disadvantages:
- The Lumix can not operate with one hand, as the zoom can be set only on the ring on the lens
- It is very large (the size of a D-SLR Canon EOS 400 D with zoom lens 28-105 mm)

My conclusion is as follows:

1. Those who value the best picture quality and comprehensive setting, which obtains with the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-50 EC a knotless product.

3. Those looking for a small, handy camera, should resort to another product. But he should not then complain about inferior image quality, because of course you can not compete with the giants of the Zoom Lumix a small lens.

4. Who can not take good pictures with the Lumix, which it will not get to the series with a D-SLR with 22 megapixels.

So strong buy recommendation, if you need a bridge camera with superzoom and prefer a proven top device without teething!
