I bought this camera with a 18-200 lens, for a TV documentary. Then, buy a macro lens SEL30M35. The image quality is at the rendezvous, no doubt! Of course, good lighting is indispensable, I must not tell you much about it (for my needs are quite modest, I use extra LED lighting). I specify (in case you would not have guessed) that I am enlightened amateur and unprofessional ;-) I was a little embarrassed at first by the absence of electrical zoom. Play manual requires some training because the ring is rather rigid. Difficult to do very fluid, to know! For my part, not crippling. The lack of XLR audio input does not bother me, I always record sound external (and lavalier microphones Tascam DR680) and am using the internal sound track as a witness. No problem mounting (native) in Adobe Premiere CS5.5, both in 1440x1080 / 1920x1080 than 9 Mbps / 24 Mbps (just a slight slowdown in 24 Mb when I add inlaid). The recording format requires the use of their files recombinant software for long video, which are cut. No need to try to bypass this software, you would be sure to lose information (for short videos not need it). I intended to use an old "big" battery from Sony (NP-FH100), but the camcorder's internal software incompatible says after a minute of normal use !!! Sony therefore requires a new purchase (NP-FV100) if we want to have greater autonomy than permitted with the battery supplied as standard. We know the music ... The weight of the device contributes to good stability, again not much new. At arm's length, and zoom to the max, it weighs quite quickly. To conclude, I am very satisfied with my purchase, for which I added the 5-year warranty option. I would not have done for a camcorder to 200 euros, but there ...
