Omegon Telescope N 130/920 EQ-2 (electronics)

Customer Review

First I must say that I am not a beginner. A few years ago I got a rather cheaper telescope, with which I could quite well watch the moon and Jupiter. But now it was time to create me a new, stronger unit. Finally, I chose the Omegon Telescope N 130/920 EQ-2. Now I want to describe and assess the individual parts of the telescope closer:

1. The tube
He has an aperture of 130mm, which means that you already can thus collect quite a bit of light. Compared to the weaker model of this series Omegon the sprint to 30% more.
The focal length is 920mm, which is a decent base for a good magnification.

2. The mount
It is an EQ-2. Well, in most forums this mount is called "Lidl-mount" and also rated poorly because it can only carry a certain weight. Although it is already so, that if you abuts the tube begins to shake, but even if that happens, he is silent again in a second. So I say that the mount for this tube still is ok, you should engage in more severe but a stronger mount.
The attached rotary axes are wonderfully suited for tracking celestial bodies, since these are not fixed due to the Earth's rotation and placed its own motion in the sky.

3. The tripod
About this really can not complain. It is very stable and you can adjust the exact height. In addition, a very practical shelf supplied is included, which is mounted on the tripod between the three legs and is very suitable for depositing the eyepieces, filters and protective caps.

4. The Red-Dot Finder
As the word implies, is this is a device that projects a red dot on a disk, which is used for sighting of celestial bodies. If it adjusted properly, you need only align the telescope right, so that overlap celestial bodies and red dot and you can watch the celestial body through the tube.
So you can believe this Red-Dot Finder is the best tool to aim and I want him to miss anything to me.

5. The eyepieces
It comes with two eyepieces, a 25mm and a 10mm. With these you have achieved a pretty decent magnification which is calculated as follows: focal length of the tube: focal length of the eyepiece. Here, then, 920: 25 or 10. This eventually results in an increase of 36,8x or 92x.
If you want to achieve but an even stronger magnification to observe, for example, details of planets and deep-sky objects, you should either get a Barlow lens which doubles the magnification, or an eyepiece with a smaller focal length. Here but you should always pay attention to the quality.

Required accessories:
If you now wish efficiently observe the night sky, but you should get a few extras to.
To find your way around the night sky, a rotating star chart would certainly be useful. Here at Amazon there are some of them.
Is absolutely necessary but a lunar filter. As mentioned above this tube collects a lot of light, and if you want to watch as the moon and you look not want to ruin your eyes, this accessory is required necessarily.

Conclusion:
I am very pleased with this telescope and the price-performance ratio also agrees. The tube and the right eyepieces you get a very nice and detailed image and a good magnification. Tripod and mount are ok, although this mount is encountered in the tube to its limits. So I do not recommend to use it with a heavier barrel.
The Red Dot Finder is brilliant and very suitable for sighting.
The only drawback is the missing moon filter, still five stars for this telescope.
