Stephen Gilligan writes in this book about his approach of "generative trance work". Gilligan was student of the legendary hypnotherapist Milton Erickson. The first book of his "Therapeutic Trance" is still very close to the way the Ericksonian hypnotherapy. Came his second work, "Love thy neighbor as thyself", the mid-90s out includes the approach he developed the self-relation therapy, which represented a further development of the Ericksonian. Well, 2012 has come and the third standard work of Gilligan appears. And it is a signpost for the future trance work. Gilligan describes in the interesting book written for experts as well as lay people, in what way can cause positive changes through trance work. Therapists find in this book a lot of practical exercises for their work, but also for non therapists who simply have an interest in personal development and trance work, this book is highly recommended. In the book, a lot of practical instructions are described to trance exercises. There are exercises that Gilligan also committed to its workshops and its treatment / his coaching. Is exercises such as the "Second Skin", in which the conscious and unconscious "mind" to work together in a creative way so that generates a kind of safety field around the body, develops and felt. Taking this "field" in challenging situations with the possibility arises, much more relaxed and creative deal with "stress". And this is also the general message of Gilligan: in trance work is not about that issue to learn how to deal in a completely different way in order "to hypnotize away," but in a state of flow and creative Aktzeptanz. So you learn in many different ways in this book, as it is possible to bring in a relaxed, centered, grounded, open and creative aktzeptierenden flow state. So everyone can achieve a little of what Gilligan mentor Milton Erickson has achieved: to accept many difficulties and symptoms as they are and to be curious as to what can be done to convert it without it "fight" to have. The fact that Betty Erickson, the daughter of Milton Erickson, a review of this book with the sentence "My father would be so proud (My father would be so proud.)" Concludes that recognition shows this work comes to Good.
Conclusion: For those people who are interested in very future-oriented and creative trance work, this book is highly recommended. In my opinion, there is just barely more recent and better books on the market.
