Story
In the post-apocalyptic future, the residents of Moscow are forced to live in the underground network of the Metro, because the surface was absolutely contaminated during the last war and is populated by dangerous mutants.
The protagonist Artyom is by a stalker named Hunter to the interior of the Metro, the polis, sent a message of a new threat, the "black" (some new mutation with telepathic abilities)
to be transmitted.
And so a journey through the underground network and at times to the dangerous surface that continues seamlessly in Last Light begins.

Gameplay
Vorneweg, you can at the start, depending on your personal style of play, the Spartans or the classic mode.
The Spartan is very arcade-heavy, with a lot of ammunition and faster battles, while you have to pay attention in the classic more on ammo and health. Nice that the developers a leave the choice of how you want to proceed.
Otherwise Metro is a shooter full of innovations, of me at times very reminiscent of STALKER.
You have a choice between common weapons such as AKs, shotguns, (fire) grenades, as well as exotics such as air pressure guns, which use up steel balls and need to be inflated manually (electrical appliances, such as flashlight must be recharged by hand ). Each weapon can (the currency in Metro) be improved with different pistons, runs and optical sights and individualized with different dealers against military ammunition.
The battles also run very roughly, human opponents sound the alarm if one is discovered, take cover and shoot (almost supernatural) good!
you can shootings but mostly out of the way in which one is reflected unsuspecting enemies from behind or kills with the knife.
The battles against mutants are very different depending on the type: During the four-legged Nosalis should usually attack in packs one at demons (a particularly dangerous mutant species that an attack from the air) rather quickly take the legs into their own hands. From the troll-like "librarians" should not be discovered because these so endure some pellet.
Apart from the shoot-there are many areas where you can discover some things, mainly ammunition, health packs and gas mask filters. Unfortunately, the game is completely linear, even on the surface you realize the invisible level limits. But that is hardly noticeable, since the available areas were staged very loving.
I also really liked the mechanics on the surface, since you can survive only with gas mask here and regularly, the filter, which can be found either or in some merchants who reside in the good busy stations, buy, needs to change. The gas mask can also be damaged in the fighting, which depending on the degree in small or larger jumps, which reduce the field of massively, reflected. Once broken, you can just look for a new mask to improve his vision again. Very nice also the condensation in it and the option is to wipe blood or water from the mask.
4/5 Because of the sometimes complex, outdoor areas
Graphic
Metro Redux looks in every way fantastic!
The textures are sharp and the stations are very varied designed. No place looks like the other, and especially when I went the first time at the Moscow Surface finish, I could not get enough!
A little highlight are also the stations, since most people go about their daily routine. There, among others bars, bedrooms, markets, shooting ranges and much what the abandoned Metro einheizt much life. Just a pity that the facial animations have been very rigid.
Other outstanding features are the amazing light and shadow effects, especially the fire animations have done absolutely to me!

Sound
The sound is also managed from the ground up, the guns clatter through the echoing tunnel, everywhere one hears crawl or grunt something unfortunately the Russian accent is at times really over the top, so you can take the partially hardly serious;)
4/5
Technology
Metro Redux runs smoothly at 60fps and also outweigh bug free. Had to start once a new mission, because my companion had no desire to begleuten me :)
But the gripe is of the highest standard!
5/5
All in all, I recommend Metro anyone who has liked the Stalker series or is something more unusual shooter where trust the developers, just to make a few things new!
Metro is one of the best shooter that absolutely stands out from pabulum etc. a la Call of Duty, Medal of Honor for me. But if fast action, Dauergeballere and endless weapons and ammunition expects Metro should instead borrow first before buying!
