The installation took me two minutes (although Hue lose synchronization easily, at least a dozen times in 1 month) and you can immediately try out the lights games.
The problem is that everything is a gimmick, nice but not quite successful, let me explain:
- The Hue have beautiful varying colors, but in the most light colors, they all look a bit like.
- The Power lamp is not top, with 2 Hue in a 40sqm room is a little level just pure lighting, although side subdued atmosphere that's perfect.
- Philips has developed a great technology here, ruined by a smartphone application / tablet sloppy. Difficult to handle and difficult to navigate. For me to really enjoy my Hues I bought a dedicated application on the Google Store. Too bad really because without the app was only 2 very expensive paperweight!
- It would have been interesting to a manual switch on Hues, because when your connection jumps when you want to turn them off must disconnect. No switch: depending on your installation which is not necessarily obvious!
In fact, even if the geek in me breaks out, I would say it is a technology still evolving, which when fully developed will be really great. Personally, I agree 100% that urge to light up otherwise.
Meanwhile if you want to have fun and that you have the means, enjoy!
