What's the matter? An iMac in 2011 (OSX 10.10) and an HP Elite Book (Windows 7) with an additional VGA monitor to be each additional "connected to a Dell 27 with 2560 x 1440 resolution via DisplayPort. This works, but I had to replace each cable on the Dell.
The Startech I can now operate the iMac and the EliteBook via DisplayPort switch on and connect there to Dell. The 1440s resolution is supported at both computers. If both computers run, I can connect the monitor to the one or other computer by pressing a button on Startech. The then decoupled computer recognizes the "lost" screen and adjusts itself according to (Windows tray from HP is placed on the VGA screen, etc.). This switching takes a brief second, and can be repeatedly performed without problems.
The selected channel 1 or 2 is indicated via a red lamp. Red, because you can also connect the keyboard and mouse, but what I have not done. Therefore, I also do not mind that the unit only supports USB 2, USB 3 version was not available.
After all, should the Dock screen get better than the permanent plugging and unplugging of the DisplayPort connector beforehand.
Warning: despite the relatively high price are in addition to the power supply at no additional cables. DisplayPort cable, USB host, etc. must be ordered separately if required.
