Installation:
Because the camera to wireless code naturally does not know, you close this first wired to the Fritz box and looks in the Fritz-management, such as the IP address of the CAM is (Tip: Cam shows among home networks on behalf " ipcam _... ").
You give this IP address in Chrome in the URL field, and you will open a login window (User: admin, Pass: empty / nix / blank). Already you're in there :-)
First step: Under System> Users assign a password for the user "admin".
Step Two: Under System> Camera Name enter a meaningful name with me "Cam1".
Third step: Under System> Date & Time Settings Adjust the (GMT + 1).
Fourth step: comparison of the well-rehearsed version of WebUI and firmware under System> About the available versions on the manufacturer's website ([...]> Downloads). If necessary, Download latest version and import (Firmware> Upgrade).
Step Five: Under Network> Wi mark the "Enable WiFi" option and scan for wireless LANs. Click Found WLAN and enter the network key.
Step Six: Camera separated from the power supply, loosen cable, close Chrome. Cam Connect with power, explore the new wireless IP over Fritz box and log on to the new WebUI.
We come to the NAS setup. I'm sorry, but I can only experience with (m) of a Synology DS213 + play - if you use a different manufacturer or even may have no NAS, therefore possibly sounding unfortunately the following lines for you like gibberish :-(
The DiskStation provides an appropriate software for controlling IP-Cams; this software must be in the DiskStation administrative downloaded from the Package Center and installed and is then available via the main menu under the name "Surveillance Station" is available.
After the first start of the Surveillance Station you land automatically in the management of cameras, where you can add the wireless camera on the Add button (make sure that other browser windows are closed to Cam): query against, inter alia Camera (select course "INSTAR") name, IP address (without "[...]"), the manufacturer, camera model (here, of course, "IN-2905" select) as well as user name and password. As you can see from the specifications, this camera will thus already FACTORY FROM NAS supports! Excellent! Then you configure even include the values of the event recording (video duration before / after an event) and other settings such as the maximum size of the video archive. The rest of the settings such as recording resolution by motion detection are self-explanatory.
Speaking of motion detection: The NAS provides two types of motion detection - by Kam-Built or via NAS software. I have not dealt with the built-in motion detection Kam automatic, but can say that it works; I ultimately decided on the NAS motion detection, I could define precise image areas and thresholds and object size accurately here.
I would like to end this review with a reference to the good wireless properties, after all, is between Fritzbox and bike shed not only about 15m air line, but also a couple of really big walls. And then there's the really excellent night vision feature.
We come to the conclusion:
Of course, this camera is not a panacea with zoom and tilt gimmicks. But I do not use this camera indeed for multiview live high-tech satellite monitoring, but for stationary short range surveillance applications outdoors to keep track in the worst case can, who, when the bike shed enter. For this purpose, this camera - in connection with Synology NAS network storage device - ideal for very good value for money in my view; for me a perfect purchase!
Again, of course, applies the known motto "You get what you pay for". However, I can not see where I have eight times more expensive Kam for my purpose a decisive advantage.
After my first experience with the Kam I am so happy that I would buy it off again.
