The adapter is very expensive and it alone should Apple curse, but unfortunately it's just the way that when you buy Apple products, you also need to buy just the right accessories. The positive side is that the Apple things work well. The adapter does exactly what it should. You can simply connect the iPad to a projector with a VGA connector and has a perfect picture. Simply show the video on the Videoapp, you do not need another adapter or converter, which is fortunately already in cable included. Even the sound works einwandtfrei. Perhaps even connect a small speaker, then the sound is loud enough for a larger space.
