I bought this knife, because I was tired, to snip me with half blunt knives by cheap vegetables mountains and wanted to have a very good knife ever want.
The box is a nice addition, but after unpacking actually without utility because the knife is mounted freely in a block of wood be better. But that's not really a criticism of the knife itself.
I think you hurt with blunt knives, I have no fear even my boys given this knife (8 years) for cutting vegetables for (of course, with the warning that it is sharp as a razor!). It cuts so fully focused and with a lot of fun for the vegetables to wok. I hope he wins so more joy of cooking and learn so that for his whole life, that cook is fun and healthy, as if to interject Fertigfrass.
Very good cuts with knife and chicken, beef and fish.
But I can only strongly advise to follow a few tips:
- NEVER NEVER enter into the dishwasher; the sharp cleaner destroys the good blade and makes them dull
- Always a cutting board made of wood, bamboo or plastic use (just no glass or porcelain)
- NEVER cut in a cutlery drawer with other metal parts, but rather use a knife block or a magnet holder of wood or plastic
- A wet grindstone equal purchase to (400/1000-grit are okay for hobby use) and reground regularly; Videos to the Web's enough!)
- Never cut bone or frozen
- And one more thing: This is a knife, not a cleaver :-)
Who takes this into account, long-term enjoyment of the knife has and does not have to be disappointed complain that it has become dull after a few weeks.
UPDATE 8/9/2014: Unfortunately, for some time to break out of parts of the blade, although the knife was never in the SpüMa and must be kept always in the knife block. Since we now use the knife not so often, I can only say to the durability that I feel is extremely moderate. I therefore reducing to 2 stars.
