ADDENDUM: Since I wrote this review to a few things have changed: There are now a lower model and I suspect that HD Tune has to strictly evaluated (see comments). In any case, the figures are well below 300MB / s.

I bought the case a week ago (Delivery delay due to Easter).
First impression:
Slightly clunky, but stable. Is precisely intended for hard drives with a little more height. Good quality with steel housing.
Installation:
I then equal to my SSD (OCZ Octane 512GB; SATA III) screwed in, for testing. The installation was straightforward: Inside the case is a rubberized motherboard with SATA port on which you have to tighten the hard drive. The whole is then slid into it body and screwed this. A suitable screwdriver is included in the package. One hears almost no clatter.
Speed:
The OCZ Octane has a SATA III port and should 550MB / s read and 400MB / s write access reach. In theory, the transfer should reach via USB 3 up to a maximum of 625MB / s (with the Octane 550MB / s) and via eSATA up to 300MB / s. In any event, in the product description of something STATA 1.5 / 3/6 !!! Gb / s ...
I tested all at one CLEVO P150HM and a Dell Vostro with HD Tune. The additional USB power port did not change.
P150HM:
USB 2: fairly consistent 31MB / s
USB 3: constant 150MB / s; rises occasionally up to 175MB / s
eSATA: swaying slightly 170MB / s; breaks about 2x / minute short (~ 200 ms) one, which should make but barely noticeable
Vostro:
USB 2: very consistent 27MB / s; sometimes up to 29MB / s; as the Dell Vostro no "normal" USB 2 port has, I had to connect the housing with USB cable to the eSATA port, here I needed then the additional power connector
USB 3: constant 147MB / s
eSATA: constant 170MB / s; as P150HM interrupts the transmission about 2x / minute short a
Due to the very similar results in both laptops I strongly suspect that these values already the highest speed that supports housing represent. These are for USB 3 and eSATA Although significantly higher than USB 2, but do not reach the speed of SATA III 300MB / s or even 600MB / s by far.
Recognition on the PC:
The detection of the hardware is fast; I do not but have noticed that occur after frequent back and herstecken long waits, what I would rather push Windows into the shoes. Especially strong this fall after disconnecting from the eSATA port significant: In my CLEVO P150HM the function reported "Safely Remove Hardware" always a mistake. If I still pulled the plug, the LED for disk utilization lit permanently until I connected the disk. If I then connect it via USB, Windows meant that I had the disk format for now. Then again umgestöpselt and we went back. Half an hour later came a blue screen ... but I suspect that there are these little problems with other cases ...
About the built-in eSATA hard drive running in AHCI mode (if enabled in the BIOS). So you can install a Windows on the external hard drive.
Power supply:
After OCZ Octane I installed internally again mean, I'm going to use this case for a Seagate Momentus 512GB. This pulls up to 0.7A, which is too much for many USBs. On my CLEVO P150HM this was also without the additional power connector no problem. There were no problems with the power supply via eSATAp.
Conclusion:
All in all I am satisfied. Those who want to get an external SSD, will probably be unhappy with the speed, but at the moment there appears to be no even faster housing. I find the product description is somewhat misleading: Although I have not expected that the speed of USB would be achieved 3, but because there is something of SATA 6Gb / s was I had at least the hope that you can get over the 300MB / s limit , Well.
In my case, it is also stupid that the housing is so high. My hard drives are all no more than 1 cm high, so I would hope that DeLock also offers a flatter frame; it would have to make any changes to the electronics. Therefore, and with regard to the product description 1 star deduction. The money is worth it, however.
