Fast, cheap, stable, super processed ... what do you want more?

Introduction:
Also, I have read the information that the Samsung Galaxy S Plus is (SGS +) come with metal back to the market ... and what was still not finally clarified (EU-Version or EN version). I can now say that it has a plastic back (original T-Mobile). Be honest: So what?
HTC Desire S has a metal back ... but according Connect connection problems ... why the Incredible u.Sensation have only a plastic / metal back. And after all, cost the SGS + in stores only 350euro and is currently the fastest available single-core phone with a top-end features, his predecessor always led in many magazines to SGS2 the 1st place in the leaderboards.

Workmanship (Part 1):
A year ago, the SGS was seen after Pricewise in the TOP / superclass (EIA 650Euro), which is why I can understand the anger at what was then the plastic case. Today is the successor SGS + are only in the middle class, in the whole 95% of all mobile phones made of plastic.
About the "smooth" back one can argue, but I (my personal opinion!) Find a) the back very pleasant (flatterer) and b), the phone does not creak and c) Super processed.
It is alleged to be that quick to see through the smooth back scratches. I know of many friends, that even the new smart phones are supported without protection in your pocket or in your hand bag. I use the case below, then wear these in extra pockets (briefcase, shoulder bag) where nothing is transported, which can exert pressure (keys, etc.).

What stand for election?
I am an absolute beginner smartphone and stood before the election: Win7 or Android. In the end I decided against Win7, because the battery consumption is still considerably higher (see, for example, tests in Connect or "google" times). There is even a description of Microsoft on how to beat it.
iOS (iPhone) was simply too expensive (for me ca.400Euro to SGS + price) and the Conditions of policy not told me!
As mobile phones HTC Sensation came (battery consumption lousy with me 100 Euro more expensive), SGS2 (battery consumption (see CT) and too expensive, 140Euro difference to SGS +) and the SGS + in question (the SGS will cost a month earlier when my fare still 15Euro more) ,

Compared to SGS2:
- Faster (dual core not yet supported) ... 1.4GHz instead of 1.2GHz.
- AMOLED Plus no advantage (see various tests)
- 8GB enough
- 4 "to 4.3" makes phone handy
- Change of Micro-SD card during ongoing operation possible ... at SGS2 not possible!
- A little thicker, rounded (Handschmeichler Quality) and small (4 "instead of 4.3")

What I value!
- Address Book
- Calendar
- Battery life
- Speed
- Workmanship

What I find rather unimportant!
- Cam ... for I have ne "True". For me the Cam is mainly used to take pictures or to send contacts images.
- GPS ... for I have a Navi.
- UMTS speeds over 7MBit ...

Display:
Also have the SGS2 had to compare, but do not see any difference with the best intentions. The display is very konstrastreich, colorful and läst even in bright light to read well.

Contrary to my responses to the comments, among other things, but I have read the chip test (I did not realize), but which says the following

In comments I let the subpixels in SGS2 better solved is (Super AMOLED Plus) and letters no longer look so frayed as the SGS + (Super AMOLED). This I can not understand, because even small font can be read super and not acts rasterig or frayed. Anyone who likes to watch the display with a magnifying glass, looks as perhaps differences, but even the above test could detect nothing.

Touchscreen:
Even lightly wiping can "start" the phone. All Apps or "installed" applications are started immediately. Also, a rotation is implemented immediately.

Battery runtime (see also in Google Maps ... below):
Have put into operation the cell phone since 16.8.2011 (22Std.Lieferzeit of T-Mobile Germany), but not until Wednesday. After ca.6Std.WLAN Terms and 45Std. Standby (T-Mobile D network in urban, ie good supply, but by D-net higher battery consumption and e-network) the battery is at 13%. Synchronization is off. Overnight I switched the phone into airplane mode, which. In ca.5,5Std only about 1% Akkukapazitäts- "loss" resulted.
Even after a week, I can say as a conclusion that the battery life longer than a day by holding (intensive use: games, WLAN, UMTS Synchro, photos of real CAM load, telephoning, texting, etc.).

For email alerts and smaller information I use EDGE and get loose with 2 days back (inkl.WLAN use eg 2GB data download (Navi software), ca.1Std. Playing, telephoning, texting ... remaining battery life 40%).
After 3 weeks and try less, calls for more, the battery capacity is sufficient even for 3days ... which is great for a smartphone. However, I turn UMTS even one, when I need it, for example, for surfing. At home I use Wi-Fi, go to sync EDGE.
After 3Monaten experience I strongly recommend for 2 days to restart the system, that is not to load with the power on. The available memory increases system-specific daily from (at about 100 apps I have after a restart ca.180MB RAM free ... after quite 2,5Tagen only 50-100. The system is thus noticeably slower. A "reboot" does then very good ... and the battery charges faster and gentler.

(We also recommend a power scheduler, which can create multiple schedules, when Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Airplane mode is enabled. Very convenient and saves energy!)

I have the Android version now updated to 2.3.5. After that was again an energy saving determine. End of the year I managed despite sync, wireless and telephony in 4days.

(Update) Since 14days I switched from EDGE to UMTS. With several hours sync throughout the day (mail, calendar, facebook and Co.) I'm still safe for 2 days.

Important even for power users: For the SGS + there is a Power Pack (original Samsung). This is a hard case with integrated battery, which prolongs battery life. Price ca.40-55Euro. For this, however, you also get high performance battery mobile stations that can be but not so good "combine".

Surface / Steering:
As a newcomer I had only concern, if I can cope with the phone. Everything was quickly learned or discovered by trial and error. More questions clarifies the 160Seiten PDF on the website.
Samsung has 7 screens that can be fitted with apps, widgets and other shortcuts individually.
Only the "Accept" of talks is to me at first found it hard: There will be two "buttons" that you aside "Wipe" must. Do not understand why simply tapping would be enough.

Important to me is always the calendar and address book.
The calendar like it very much, also shows birthdays from the contacts on ... can, however, to my knowledge, not divided into categories, ie I can not say "The appointment x is a Geburtatag" ... if for example someone is, which is not in the contacts. With the dedicated widget, you can let the events of the following day on the home screen display.
Meanwhile, I'm capable to call management, so I have my main contacts marked as favorite, and now figured out how to create contacts directly on the screen. Direct dial numbers of individual contacts can be created as well as speed dials on the phone keypad (2-0) .At the best I find the possibility to organize contacts into groups, assign own ringtones and set "Annoying Callers" on a blacklist.
(From the previously recommended address App "Dialer One" I have refrained, because the rights Internet Connection and GPS are required and have remained with the standard. Therefore, I have it erased with this update of the review.)

Meanwhile, I have also installed once the popular "Go Launcher EX" including "Go Contacts" ... and wanted to send a contact by e-mail. This easily was only possible with the Touchwiz (Samsung) contact management. So, this function provides the standard interface.

Mail Client
I let even opinions that the mail client will not be satisfactory. Personally, I find him very much because he as tabs displays the folder above and right is in Icon how much mail is received.
As a reference, but is actually recommended K9 that signals the entrance in the status bar, but having the call over the standard mail client, a better overview ... in which mailboxes the mails have been received ... also supports K9 push email.
Update: Meanwhile, I've K9 again uninstalled, because to me there the IMAP folders are not displayed. The Standard Client displays this as it is written up in tabs. The overview of all created accounts is now also given (default client), since more than one account this - are displayed below each other, including new and total messages per mailbox - like K9.. The only "disadvantage" compared to K9 is that most polling interval 1h. is (K9: ... 12h / 24h..). Whether the Standard Client Push-mails support I do not know, because I have enough hourly demand.

GPS
In the comments for this review was reported by GPS problems. I have tested this yesterday and can not confirm this. A few days ago I had turned on the first time GPS and had to ... what is known when you first enabled but also with Navis ... wait a very long time.

Due to a comment, I let myself today by Navigon Select (T-Mobile Edition) pilot to work. The navigation worked great and the "movements" were well recognized ... my Garmin nüvi (ca.2Jahre old) is great, but not as accurate. Later I saw the way that I have also used the GSM network for position determination ... which means that GPS gets faster Connect, which then remains constant. As soon as I was gone in the garage was also pointed out immediately on the lack of GPS signal.

(Update) Music Player
For a few months I have a 16GB Samsung micro SD card is inserted. It was easily recognized. However, both the default installed Touchwiz music player, as well Jukefox and n7player has not managed to identify it stored there music. In Jukefox seen clearly how the media scanner is initialized (but may also be that I have too little maintenance (ca.10min.)).
(Of course, I can search for both the folders.)
On the other hand made it "TTPod" (free of charge) to easily identify all the songs. But this does not load matching cover from the grid.

Google Maps (higher battery consumption)
On a forum, and also one of the publish review I let that Google Maps the battery "sucked empty", ie not properly terminated and then the battery becomes exhausted quickly. This I tested yesterday and can not share this experience. I recommend the below "Advanced Task Killer" who quickly solve problems, but also with no task killer, there were no such observations.
In recent days, I noticed that the battery in the airplane mode at night a lot of energy lost (about 30%). With a System Monitor I came to Google Maps. There I found out that the site was always being updated ... and not be allowed to change (app always crashed). This came about because I was logged on Latitude (own icon) in Google Maps (I did not). Since then I have logged out, the battery consumption is for 4hrs. at 1%, and after 6 hrs. at 3% ... a top value.

T-Online Syncronisation / Media Center (increased battery consumption)
After the Telekom actively the possibility in the TV advertising its contacts, appointments and e-mails also have mobile access everywhere, I've tested it. For instructions can be found on the telecom side. So may be - as with Google - Syndicate contacts, emails and appointments with the T-Online account. The device according to instructions worked very well, but unfortunately took the battery capacity drastically, although it has been activated, that only every couple of hours to be synced. I have deleted everything again ... everything was as usual ... I taught everything again ... again increased Engergieverbrauch.
Tip: To synch yet its contacts with T-Online, I recommend the contacts as vcf file stored on the SD card and import at T-Online.
Media Center app: Imagined I connect to the media center here, also significant battery consumption was recorded. I register in the app "off", ie you have to re-login every time you start the app with its data (is annoying;)) ... everything was back to normal.

Voice quality
In the talks held so far the intelligibility and the volume was very good. However, the predecessor SGS was already known.

Overall quality
Even within buildings very well. Even after the third week, I can confirm that even in poorly served areas the connection is stable.

Weak Wi-Fi? Can I not confirm !!!:
In many reviews you read that SGS + have a wireless receiver weakness ... and in the comments to this assessment say I would not go into it and praise the + SGS in the sky ...
My Wi-Fi Access Router "Speedport 701V" (g set "only", not s) is in an old building on the 1st floor at the front wall (antenna pointing upwards) ... while I preferably in the EC - almost on the other side of the house (ca.10m) - still a (3) line receiver have (Wi-Fi). Between transmitter and me is still a suspended plasterboard ceiling, which is also known to cause a lot of metal profiles by an impairment of receipt. In addition, I still use "GreenPower free", the disabled at 20% of the signal strength WLAN (manually set) to conserve battery power, which by implication means I have mind.30% signal strength. Depending on the seating position, I have lines on the ground floor 2 reception ... probably there is between transmitter and receiver is a direct "line of sight / view windows" without affecting the ceiling.
The router has a transmit power means (Low-Medium-High) ... so do not send at full strength.
I know of other wireless devices that arrive there similar reception strengths.

I am on the same floor in the next room (ca.8m distance) and a "brick-wall" inkl.Stromkabeln lies between transmitter and receiver, I also 1-2Striche.

Can therefore only conclude: It depends on the access point, the position of the antenna and the apartment / house environment from ... maybe. also how many access points in the area can interfere with the signal.

Incidentally, I do not let me ads "fool", but from practical experience (Which brings me 1Strich GSM reception if I can no longer call there.)

Compared to "mobile":
What with respect to a normal cell phone was missing and noticed quickly, is fast switching between Situations profiles, ie "Normal", "office", "car", etc. for example, to turn down the volume, etc. This is not possible normal (or I know it is not) and needed an additional app, such as "Simple Sound widget" or Quick ... profiles the latter also allows using the Profile WLAN or Bluetooth to (de-) activate.

Processing (part 2):
Plastic or not, but the workmanship is great. You can tell that you have a high-quality device in hands. Who wants to have metal, must comply with the above problems live (connection problems, higher weight) or a lot more money to spend (iPhone4 32GB version will cost as ... because the memory can not expand ...> 600Euro).
If you want to but necessarily have metal, should times Watch Sony Ericsson Ray in September. Price-Performance:
Please see times where you get a 4 "smart phone with Android 2.3.5 with 1.4GHz single-core and 8GB internal memory for ca.230Euro, incl. Office compatible app etc.

Data Flat:
I have as Datenflat a 384KB Flat that is not throttled ... and'd like to do away with the prejudice that you absolutely need 3,6-7,2MBit. For surfing / emailing and for other services, it is completely sufficient ... and for downloads If you use Wi-Fi at home ... but even that I have already done on the flat very satisfactory without waiting.
Even GSM (EDGE) is sufficient to indicate incoming mails or weather (widget) ... and save a lot of electricity.

Crashes (Fixed):
Meanwhile, I had 2 times a crash, ie, the system stopped responding (battery rausnehmen).
Both times it was after I had activated the automatic update in the Market. Since I am the most part with GSM (EDGE) network in the road, he choked as apparently.
Therefore, I recommend automatic updates disable !!! Activate ... or "updates only via Wi-Fi" (settings in the Market) and also disable "Automatic App update". With flat rates with "restriction" prevents it so well that your contingent is exceeded quickly.

Since then I have Automatic Updates turned off, everything is stable again.

(Update) (A colleague has the Samsung Galaxy Note and had constant crashes. After disabling automatic updates system Prefer ran stable again. But he took advantage of normal UMTS (O2). Anyway manual updates to know what has been updated.)

MyPhoneExplorer (for transfer passengers mobile phone> Smartphone please read):
I have the contacts, appointments and SMS from my old Sony Ericsson W995 with MyPhoneExplorer to the SGS + dubbed. This works perfectly (download app, activate Run, WLAN, restart Windows program ...), but resulted in the connection when calling the address book in the following error "android.process.acore". But is not a mistake of SGS + but by Android. The W995 is the umlauts and special characters to different, so this resulted in an error. The next time you sync, although everything looked good, as an acquaintance, had its address umlauts, called me came this message again. After hours of trying, I then via Bluetooth contacts directly transferred (W995-> SGS +). Although now available with umlauts and special characters, a white diamond with a question mark in it, but so far no error message.
Otherwise, the synchronization works then again perfect. Seems really a compatibility issue (MyPhoneExplorer know it it out) to be of the two phones.
Meanwhile, I have edited all contacts thanks to MyPhoneExplorer.

(Update) Firmware Update:
With the Samsung own and much-criticized "gravel" software I have installed Android version easily updated to version 2.3.5 (takes ca.30min.). All settings and apps were then available as usual.
An update on IceCreamSandwich 4.0 was not yet confirmed by Samsung ... but after a letter to Samsung, it has not been denied, but pointed out that it can take due to the modifications of the network operator. (For me, this is a "commitment".) Wait!
