Reason for my purchase was the desire for a new smartphone which my be anywhere in the HTC Desire HD would replace. Since I use a prepaid card and not 600, - wanted to spend on a "well-known" device I ended up at the Cubot S308. When you unpack and reassemble I see no difference to a Samsung or similar current Design because now probably use all manufacturers cheap thin plastic cover as the back wall. But it works apart even when continuous and composed very reliable without because what breaks. Another positive aspect is that the battery is replaceable. After a very fast start of the device you have first the desire to change the background image (A wine barrel before kitschy comic backdrop as standard ???). Luckily include a few appealing wallpapers as standard. Otherwise, you see the familiar Android environment. There are some apps preinstalled but not too much unnecessary stuff that can not be uninstalled on other devices. But we come to the weaknesses. The device has no magnetic sensor, which means that you can not use compass app. I had feared that it might lead to problems when using a navigation app here also, (Map orientation to the north), but this proved to be unfounded, apparently this is achieved by the GPS data when navigating. I would imagine the "geocachers" might have a problem here. The second and bigger problem is the memory management. There are just under 0.89 GB for installing apps, which made me very quickly to the limit. While standing 12,45 GB SD card memory than is available, but can be applied to this first no apps move (In App2SD the buttons are displayed to move grayed therefore unavailable). This changed only after the onset of a "genuine SD card" Now let themselves move many apps, but by no means all. Only the setting up root permissions enabled here, the move of other apps on the SD Card. Nevertheless, the memory remains too small. Some larger Apps can not be installed because of available memory was insufficient to. However, there are diverse "Custom Roms" that can zoom in massive internal memory so far up to 12GB, 8GB which probably should be enough. I have this last step is not yet dared, as it will be the first time that I'm going to flash a smartphone. Once I have therefore gained some experience, I will add here accordingly. If all this works then so, the device gets from me 4 stars because for the price it is then a really good investment. One more thing about the battery. It keeps really long time but one can not rely on the display. Once the 20% will be maintained as a lower unit can go out at any time. However, he considers himself before ever long in 70- 80% range. A co-worker had his Samsung incidentally the exact same experience, so this is not a unique feature of this Cubot S308.
