However, the major drawback to this device is the firmware from Shuttle.
1. The web interface crashes with me from regularly if I want to go to the point Settings / Settings. At the beginning of this yet then stopped working after a while. Typically, this step now leads to a complete refusal to work the equipment: Neither via web interface even via Samba, the device is then reach. Here you must restart.
I drop the loaded settings page in the browser open while the device reboots, then I get to the lucky sometime still on the page. Am I on the other hand the traditional way (Anmelden-> Settings) in most cases, the error occurs again. So provided this can certainly not be. Even after I came to the side and finally now to the latest FW (Stand 21.04.2014 is 2:36) was able to update, the problem still occurs.
2. complete factory reset out of the surface only possible incl. Deletion of the data on the disk
What is to please such a thing? A NAS They bent to backup data and then there is no way to perform a reset of settings per surface without will erase anything? Ridiculous! What have to do the data on the disk with the factory settings? If the NAS as actually ne config file or otherwise put what, then why not just delete them? The data is not encrypted Yes, as I understand it.
If anyone encounters this problem: the back of the device there is a reset button, which merely resets the settings, without deleting the disk (even if the seemingly nothing helps above problem).
And if now someone thinks my problems stem from the fact that I had played around the DHCP settings or possibly adjust the IP manually would (every time I click on settings): Nope! I'm not even on the network settings.
Even the bundled software "Omnias Finder" is not in a position in this fault condition to find the device. And that despite the fact that the IP of the device can still ping (and no, occupied twice the IP may not).
Two stars there are, because the device is most useful, as long as you do not want to play around with the web interface.
Personally, I can with these problems, however, no longer live permanently. A NAS should be stable and above all be approachable. That's not the case with this device! I advise anyone from getting to get a unit of shuttle as long as they do not build basically stable FW, although Equipment Price seem to be naturally attractive.
I will now look for alternatives anyway.
