Processing and general information:
Panasonic is now venturing to the top model BDT 700 to jump to the elite players and offers a lot of current technology. The available only in black device acts by design rather simple but elegant. The aluminum brushed front flap and the gold-edge connectors on the back make a good impression. Quite so -lent "Oppo" the Panasonic does not come true, therefore, but the processing is for the street price of 450 Euro fine. In the box there is a remote control, instructions and a high-quality HDMI cable 2.0.
The dot matrix display is easy to read and on other displays was deliberately omitted. Unusual, but now typical of Panasonic player, the sensor control buttons are located in the lid of the instrument and respond to the lightest touch. Thus, it is not recommended to to provide an additional device on the BDT-700 plan. Although no massive support feet, yet the status of the device is very safe and the feet used to fulfill their purpose.
The remote control is clearly structured and even lit! The tactile feedback of the buttons is excellent. Commands to be taken without delay and exactly in reception. The surface of the remote control is clear gloss and therefore sensitive to fingerprints. Ergonomically the donor is perfectly designed. A fun time with the handling of the player, because there are many meaningful Direct keys without the need to wade through the main menu. The whole thing is laid out very well thought out and useful.
Anschüsse:
Lossy analog video outputs, there are now no longer in current devices. Analog Only the 7.1. Audio outputs of the player to dock even at older amplifiers and to pass on to the current multi-channel sound. However, this is likely to be seen as expensive additional option, because of course, the current formats and via HDMI 2.0. passed. In addition, there is also an option a Toslink (Optical out) and a digital audio RCA. Two HDMI 2.0. Connections are also available. A integerierter WLAN dongle and networking round out the connections. Under the bonnet is an SD card slot and USB 2.0. Connection. More connections need today is not a current Bluray Player.
Drive:
The drawer opens pleasantly quiet and runs completely out of the machine slowly. The boot time of the player is quite fast with about 10 seconds, but you have to put in standby in the menu. When you turn on the player the TV thanks to the HDMI-CEC protocol is the same as turned on and automatically switches to the correct HDMI input. The drive reads all test media without a murmur. Here you have to praise the reliability of the drive especially! Crashes, there was during the entire test chamber not a single. The enthusiastic speed when navigating and when reading. Only in complex Blurays with JAVA content (Bluray Pirates of the Caribbean 1) can be the player for a few seconds more time, but that is bleating at a high level. There could therefore still be room for improvement, so here is a small minus. Incidentally, the layer break for DVD is mastered absolutely perfect.
There are 2 HDMI 2.0. Outputs and these are available separately for projectors and Smart TV, without having to reposition. The Panasonic brings out every medium out the maximum possible. The rumor that is circulating on the network that the player does not produce good DVD image is simply an assertion of lay. (See my YouTube demo video). Competitive devices bring at the same DVD no better results and there are almost twice as expensive! An additional investment is not worth it, because there is no gain in quality in the competition, especially since the Panasonic still some things can do more, which does not offer the competition only.
Now the most important thing - the Bluray image quality 2D:
Again perfectly mastered Bluray Pirates of the Caribbean 1 was used for the test. Tested on my ISF calibrated LG Smart TV or through my equally perfectly be measured Epson Beamer, elicit the images in Chapter 6, an image, of which EUR 100 players can only dream of! The quality of earnings in YUV 4: 4: 4 is enormous, which is also quite clear, if you switch to STANDARD times. (Most 100 Euro Player give only YUV 4: 2: 0 or primitive RGB out)
Interesting that my old LG TV only accepts the signal from the HDMI input 3.
I have a variety of media by tested. AVCHD, DVD and 3D Blurays. ALL (!) Were accepted without hesitation and also reproduced the media, referring to the principle quality. Dropouts are entirely foreign to the device and playing is always casual and relaxed without obstacles.
Sound:
In audio, the Panasonic is also impressive, even the analog 7.1 output may sound points, although the player via the digital version still sounds fresh and detailed. There is a detailed sound is on offer in the NORMAL tone setting. Gamblers can experiment with the sound parameters in addition numerous offered. Here different audio filters are switchable, affect the sound significantly. This is particularly useful for CDs to fruition. Previously, there were similar filtering technique in high-end CD players from Sony. Panasonic continues with this theme
now on again. Also an indication will be seen in what league the player.
Internet applications:
Under the tab NETWORK SERVICE the Panasonic offers an App Market, which offers many free and useful apps that can be individually decorated. On 5 subpages 40 apps may be installed and used. Streaming services like MAXDOME, Netflix and Whatever are available on the player. An Amazon Prime App for movies do not exist but.
A quick Web browser allows surfing the net. Unfortunately, the player with websites that have Flash content, not do anything, what gives him a small minus. With a tablet or mobile phone this shortcoming would be an absolute no-go, (Flash content is nothing special and integrated into the web standard!) But with a Bluray player this small shortcoming can be tolerated because no one will surf mainly about his Blurayplayer the Internet.
Internet radio is possible with the player without any problems. A Favourite list stores the favorite stations from clear. While offering the Player YouTube Ultra HD clips to choose from, but these are not even displayed on a 4K device in UHD.
Playback of clips UHD was limited to 1080p, but that has more YouTube copyright reasons, as the player is to be to blame. The subject is well aware of videos that have been banned on YouTube by GEMA. This problem can be Panasonic does not slide into the shoes.
Update 3/22/2015: Here has proved in retrospect that the You Tube Auslieferungsapp prepares problems in 2011. All You Tube videos interrupt and upon closer investigation and research, I realized that this is a caching problem. Thus, this application in its current state is useless!
This is the problem is not on my network, 3 competitors were operated on the same network and there runs YouTube without any problems!
Have the Panasonic Support agreement and hope to remedy.
This is a star deduction, the YouTube function is for me as a YouTube channel operators an important feature!
Conclusion:
Panasonic has succeeded with the BDT-700 a perfect THX Bluray player that can score with many beneficial properties. Bigger problems produces the player no negative fell only tolerable on trifles.
Those who handle properly with the unit and also with corresponding software comes along, will get a lot of quality from Panasonic offer and yet at a very fair and almost unbeatable price! The quality of the 100 players, this player is far away. Even an extra expense to competition players not worth, because these do not provide
additional quality gain in relation to the price! Apparently, not only am I arrive at this conclusion, but many other users also, therefore very strong buy recommendation and compliments to Panasonic!
