I bought this book because we were going through a difficult time with our 3 year old daughter that made us impressive tantrums. A little overwhelmed by this otherwise normal stage of its evolution, I thought that book could probably help me understand some of the "mechanisms" of the child. This book is a good source of information, which dramatizes nothing and no one guilty (although it tends to insist that it is we, the parents, who devont adapt ... and I'm not 100% agree on this point), the illustrations are funny and helpful to support some examples. However, if it helps to understand a little better how our toddlers (no, your child is not bipolar), it is not always easy to put into practice the advice given in this book. When explaining that a 3 year old can not make choices because his brain is not yet ready for it, this allows you to better understand certain situations (the example given here is a child at bakery, his father asks him if he wants a croissant or a palm tree, the child chooses the palm tree and weeps when he sees his father eat a growing because in fact he wanted a classic croissant ...) Yet we are told in other situations giving them a choice ... So what? Leave the choice to a kid who is not able to make a choice? It's all about determination, subtlety, especially back and ... patience! This is a useful book, structured as it addresses the classical problems related to the behavior of children 1 to 5 years and that allows parents to challenge because often we get stuck in our desire to see our child be such that we hope will be the one we dreamed. But the child is that it is, with its nature and its own character and our role is to guide, to set limits and help it grow serenely, not mold it to our image. But as there is no "standard model", to each of these tips adapt to his situation, which is not necessarily obvious.
