For me the best compared to the time eReader

Sony PRS-T2 - eBook reader - 2 GB - 15.2 cm (6 '), PRST2BC.CE7 Black (Misc.)

Customer Review

Both my wife and I are absolutely fanatical reader. While I usually read on the way to work and on vacation, my wife devours the books outright. About two years ago the eReader have us then first really consciously noticed. He had been there before rather clumsy boxes are in the showcases of the world and co the devices were significantly more manageable. I decided at that time for my wife to buy the PRS-350 because it seemed very handy, well crafted and superior to the then not so mature Oyo.
We have never regretted this purchase and read this reader still continues. Here we share the power which often leads to envy.

So it was to wish me a private Reader for me at some point inevitable. As the PRS-T2 then came out, I resorted to recently. Although I had just Sony in mind, but also saw the direct competitor to me. The Sony my wife had cost back then 179 and I considered also to spend so much. Competitors were the Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo Glow. Diesemal something tougher competition than before the Oyo. In all 3 devices, it is, in fact fantastic Reader.

The Kobo and Sony I had to watch the market and directly tested the Kindle Paperwhite with a colleague in detail. What made things particularly difficult was the story with the backlight. Both the Kobo and the Kindle are working with an illuminated layer that makes reading even at night a pleasure. When Sony has so far probably decided against such a solution. The light is of course a not despising advantage. But at least the Kindle but this feature is not quite perfectly integrated. The Kindle has my friend when the lamp is turned on, unfortunately distributed via the display especially at the top of this colored spots. and the bottom is here unevenly illuminated what somehow forcing me to look back since.
A reading test in bed at night showed me that I will not be so pleasant to read feel the backlight as I had first expected. My wife has for its Sony so a LED reading light, which seems to me almost as practicable.

When the whole thing looks Kobo lot better. Somehow have the deal much better illuminate the display as the Kindle creates. Also technically, the reader is then well done.

Actually, I would have opted for the Kobo, if it were not available for the Sony with 99 been where I beat spontaneously.

In retrospect a buy, I do not regret a piece.

Compared with the PRS-350 PRS-T2 with its 6 inch a bit bigger, but what makes the pages a lot more pleasant to read. In the market I had seen the Sony only just in such a shiny and worn know what I did not like. The black man is but kept matt which is very pleasant reading. The case is indeed completely made of plastic, but feels slightly rubberized, which is very pleasant in the hand. The high-quality brushed aluminum of the PRS-350 acts still significantly more resistant. But the reader is then considerably lighter relative to the size, which makes it a lot more manageable. I read mostly one-handed flick with wiping motion with the thumb of the hand with which I think this part. Here you do not run the risk that one of the readers tilts out of hand.

The first store then even equal to the first advantage over the PRS-350th The reader has to plug in the USB cable to either connect to the PC, where it can not be used or only to shop, while you can access the Reader completely. Very well done. For this our old readers has always been spinning to discharge again, if you take out the plug immediately after the end of charging. This also makes the T2 better.

The menu has the same effect well known. Changes to the 350s are for example the Bookstore and Internet functionality. The touchpad works through the 3D infrared scanning usual precision and is actually ideal. Other readers have here rather a normal touch screen, especially with the lighting. When Kindle example, it is happening to me every now and then that I thought I would have browsed but the touch but was not strong enough. So what I do not have the Sony.

The bookshelves are the T2 also succeeded somewhat clearer and have better filtering capabilities. To my surprise, just 3 full books were pre-installed, which would have cost the Internet 9-12 per share. Furthermore, a Harry Potter gift card for the first volume in the Sony store was there.

So times purely into reading pleasure.

The operation goes knotless quickly out of hand. Changes here but rather in detail. The resolution of the Sony display is lower than with the other readers in comparison. In practice, I think that at the very least for the read function of books for window dressing. The resolution is perfect for text in my eyes. At no time I see disturbing pixels in Scripture. On the Web, however, have drawbacks like the man is not a Tablet PC.

Ingeniously fast is the page layout and the leaves of the Sony. While here, the other manufacturers have also followed suit but as Sony that creates 15 pages super fast scroll without the page fully to update and thereby generate virtually no ghosting is beyond me. Really a good solution. Previously, the Oyo had until he turned over part 2 times and more seconds.

The contrast of the panel was also improved again. The background is in my opinion, brighter than any other candidate. Especially in sunlight or bright room. The old Sony is here significantly darker, but the writing is occasionally a touch of black. Kindle and Kobo come here as close as technically ran but the Sony is definitely in the lead in the contrast. Only when the lighting is to provide the other reader as a good readability. But they do not beat the Sony anyway since slightly pale with the lighting and the letter from.

The rapid screen also benefits the Web browser. For eInk ratios of these is incomparably well integrated. I'm actually not a fan of these games. A Reader is for me to read books and web and so I have other devices. To time to read news fast enough for me, however, from already. Wireless internet is quickly established and the browser has this wonderful adaptation function for continuous text: If a text small but easy runs out of the screen double click with your finger and whoosh of the text is formatted to the reader display and can be read like a book. Again double and one has again the site. So that is at least virtually.
I agree eh nix to Schnickes in Reader I to The nullified MP3 function not mourned. For this you can format the text much better, adjust fonts, and has features that had not the older Sony's part.
But to get to the conclusion:

+ Excellent readable 6 "display
+ Fastest scroll function compared
+ Leaves nearly ghostingfrei
+ Very long battery life even with Wi-Fi.
+ Sony Store works finally
+ Infrared touch sensing
+ Matter frame in black Model
+ Read during charging
+ Varied Text Attribute Options
+ Format joyful fast eaters Everything
Liquid art + compared web browsers (for eInk conditions)
+ Light weight (168g)
+ Compared very good PDF Reader
+ Multitouch

- A bit too plastic-heavy housing compared to old Sony Readers
- No backlight
- In the web browser, the resolution could be better. In Reader Mode but not a disadvantage
- Pin is indeed included, but can not be stowed in the unit
- Download only via USB. Power plug has to be bought.
- No Protective cover. Available as an option.
- No Bluetooth. So I would have to use Internet mobile.
