At first even I was skeptical: Is a separate headphone amplifier really necessary or does it also the KH-output normal amplifier? In my case, the answer is: The 25-year-old Kenwood really is no worse, but the Marantz is one such audiophile aspect of life that I do not regret a single penny for this investment!
The Marantz not only looks classy and feels valuable, it drives my headphones also fantastic and brings musically the best out of them: the music just sounds more dynamic, clearer, more accentuated. (Apart from the good old Kenwood is thus at least hour a little relieved ...)
I currently operate the following three headphones with the Marantz, which I for each of the three selectable power levels have virtually a corresponding listener:
1. Focal Spirit Classic (32 ohm): "Low"
2. Sennheiser HD 700 (150 ohms), "Mid"
3. Sennheiser HD 600 (300 ohms): "High"
Especially the Focal benefited from extremely Marantz; he sounds now much more precise and dynamic! Even the look of the chocolate brown leather look of the Focal fits very well for Marantz.
And that brings me even to the end. I will now not namely fare here in any cryptic descriptions of subjective sensations. Only this: Who is willing to just under 800, - Euro to invest in his audiophile listening, will not regret buying the Marantz!
