I will briefly evaluate the Celestron Skymaster 15x70 here.
I did not expect much for the price of about 80 euros incl.Shipping, however, was convinced of the opposite.
Immediately after arrival of the packet it came to unpack. The binoculars came neat and double bagged with me.
The scope of supply includes the binoculars, a protective case, a cleaning cloth, a stand adapter and a user manual. The manual, the cloth and the tripod adapter can be forgotten and belong in the garbage. The binoculars is very well made, if you do not forget the low price. The rubber coating makes a good impression and grippy. However, a little smell the rubber. The focus and diopter adjustment running tired and sensitive. The remuneration on the optical surfaces look very neat (Blue remuneration).
On the day I turned the binoculars for testing purposes on a wooded hill and on the roof tiles of our neighbors to a first impression of the optical power to get. There was nothing to complain about. Colors were very good and faithfully reproduced. The image bright, clear and sharp.
In the evening (till late into the night), I addressed the binoculars at the starry sky to the adjustment of the optics to control. The unit was super collimated and needs no further adjustment. In luck !!! ??? Stars are very well displayed, except for the last about 10% of the field, where the stars are represented slightly less sharp and accurate.
On this clear evening I saw a whole lot of deep sky objects in the constellations of Sagittarius, Scorpius and lyre. Starting with M4, which could be seen directly and clearly as foggy ball over M22 (size, very bright, round, with a clear light rise towards the center), NGC6642 (very weak but visible), M28, M18, M21, M17 (with hint of mist form), M24 (star without end !!!), M16 (star clusters with significant fog background), M57 (stands out clearly as a small slice of the many stars in the environment).
That evening and the planet Saturn was on the watch list. Here you can clearly see the ring and the planetary disk, but not really separated.
The binoculars are more than worth the money.
Many greetings and clear nights
Torsten
