The socks are very thick around and have a strong, padded tread. On top of the federal government, they are quite narrow for my calves, but I also have very thick calves and painful or oppressive it is not .... but just very tension.
On asphalt or in the terrain, the socks are super comfortable. This does not change even if you are carrying a backpack with a lot of baggage / weight on their backs. These do not stink socks even after several days and dry quickly if they were a bit damp. On long trips, they are indeed steiffer not smell musty ;-). Dicker bonus while at camp.
There is no pressing seams and the sock does not wear out. When Falke TK1 I had always chafed the little toe because there just ran a seam about it. Although this is also a seam in the corner, but the sock is so well padded that they do not rub on the skin.
Since I wear normal waxed leather boots your feet will inevitably get wet ... especially when you trudge through wet grass during long periods of rain. Then your feet are wet but even after several days in damp / wet socks there has never been a bubble.
For the summer, they can be a bit hot (depending on footwear). If a the foot sauna can not bother making this but also nothing, because the wool absorbs the moisture quite well away from the skin. The other man made fiber socks I've tried so were there rather clammy and cool when the shoes were pulled out. By contrast, the wool warms slightly.
Long story short .... I wear only merino socks and Smartwool Heavy now also in everyday life. It was purchased more pairs, but even my first few looks after two years still perfectly made and nowhere is thin or worn.
So were for warm days and areas now have a few thin Hiking Ultra Light Crew, which I also liked (fit, wearing comfort). For a review of this I have to still carry something .... is then submitted in accordance with the socks.
