When one flips it works well and it gives really want to (re) plunge into the world of Tolkien.
It is evident that this edition makes visually reading much more enjoyable. You can not take away that's already quite a progress compared to previous editions.
But then, in my case, this good point was soon marred by numerous mistakes throughout the book. We quickly found that these shells in individual editions of different ages are still there and in addition they have a bunch of new friends to keep them company.
Some examples ...
Most of the time they are replaced by other letters: I pass the old, among the new faults were Anárion becomes Andrion Túrin becomes Tarin 4 times on two pages, "Caras" to "Garas" 2 times on, the Sirion is also flayed many times, which is Eöl E81 in a note, etc., (as we have things like the year 1200 the second year becomes age 200). And this is just a small sample ...
Some of these new errors are also more hefty: in the story of Aldarion and Erendis it outright at the end of a sentence missing. The last word and the final punctuation are left to rot and is only 2 sentences that do more than form, and inevitably a sense of problem. I had to dust off my personal edition of the Second Age to find the word in question.
And one for the road, this mistake once, but it is significant: Dor-lómin instead Lúthien. That one, I can not explain it to me, the words are not alike and confusing geography and character to do it anyway.
It's true that if you have already read these texts, we always find the right words and meaning, but it's still very annoying.
