Jabra Vox In-ear headphones (stereo headset, 3.5mm jack) Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)

Customer Review

Jabra comes into the race. While Philips, Sony and Sennheiser previously dominated the supply of in-ear models, more and more manufacturers make vereinzelnd the three top places their dispute. From well-known hi-fi manufacturers to Lifestile brands to hearing aid manufacturers, everything is now represented. Although Jabra is not a newcomer, but could never really noticed with surprise products so far. Now the Danish heatset brand Jabra also presented their surprise contribution. After all, who believed on the other Baltic side would only drank alcohol and liquorice are munched, but should also know that there some good audio manufacturer (eg Jamo) live :-)

But when we come to the new in-ear model called VOX. The usual problems of this Ohrhörerart should all know: Thin cables that are prone to fractures; uncomfortable seat in the ears; lack of soundproofing both internally and externally ... But at the sound of do it yourself for very many (too expensive) models problems: Sizzling heights to thick bass or little bass, weak middle.

Schonmal advance: All of these problems does not deliver the VOX, which I would now like to also elaborate on its qualities. This time is the most important thing is not the end, but first :)

But still a little preface: in-ears because of differently shaped ears almost always sound different from person to person. Here, unfortunately, many factors play a decisive role.
Which unit size is used? How far put the in-ears in the ear canal and at what angle? All sounds complicated, but if you have some time as in-ears tried, you know your ears quite well. I have great hearing entrances. On the right side but this narrows very strongly (like a funnel). My problem is that a small attachment is loose and does not seal properly. The Middle sits as badly. My solution is, for both ears to use a large cap in order to seal only the auditory inputs. While you sit not as safe as if they stuck right in there, but I reach the ideal for me tone and a smooth feel.

Sound:
Before I go into more detail on the individual Frquenzgänge, I describe the sound as a whole. The Vox sounds wonderful neutral and transparent. Its dimensionality is exemplary for In-Ear its price range. He need no high level in order to get up to speed. Distortion or noise can not be heard. The sound does not reach the person sitting next to, also with higher levels not. The environment is not 100% sealed off, but I would appreciate the surrounding insulation to about 80%. That's pretty good.

**** PS:
The sound impressions differ in each case the shape of the ear canal, the gel essays used and how deeply introducing the in-ears in the ear canal. The following sound impressions were taken with the large gel essays. The sound source is an Asus Xonar DG sound card with headphone amplifier enabled.

Bass: The bass sounds nice tight, warm and quite punchy. Bass movements play so precise that they are well understood in more complex passages. Of course you can using other attachments and deeper insertion into the ear canal still perceive powerful bass reproduction capability. Here you can experiment with the wonderfully VOX. However, may be sometimes better, sometimes worse, accordingly, the bass precision. The double-no papers I hear, for example, a stronger and at the same time less detailed bass, as with the great, but I do not so deep importing into the ear canal. Measured against the current price of less than 50, the cleanliness of the bass reproduction is good, even if it lacks some presence in the very bottom layers.

In the middle: The reproduction of voices is wonderful. My favorite so far "Beyerdynamic DTX 101iE" was therefore almost obsolete (it sounds as wonderful but maybe a bit too warm). Singing voices sound very authentic and corporeal. Again, depending on the paper used, the voice sound even thinner and warmer times. In the first few hours, however, the import can be heard slightly excessive sibilance. This place, however, gradually increasing. But completely out they do not remain entirely, but what may be but also due to the respective shots (as well with a Beyerdynamic DT990 some sharpening are well audible out yet). Cello Solos (Songs and Poems for Solo Cello - Wendy Sutter and Philip Glass) sound pleasantly fine, full and deep-reaching. The roughness of the painted side is quite noticeable. In Matsoshima Ondo (Japanese Melodies - Yo Yo Ma) is very clear as well balanced bass, midrange and treble play together. The small orchestra works, by the very being balanced midrange and just out here playing in their entirety spatiality, vividly and authentically. Only in sudden dynamic applications of VOX looks a little too aggressive at higher altitudes.

Treble: The weak point of many models and thus the enemy of many listeners, the heights at a in-ear. Try here the developers "well-intentioned" something like brilliance to blend into it, this goes (to put it mildly) not very rare in the pants and it is sizzling cymbal crashes and stabbing Triangle tones or even bitingly sharp violin solos from its relaxed state torn. When VOX, the engineers have ventured into dangerous ice and tried exactly what quite a few colleagues are failed.
BUT: They did their job well. The VOX sounds in heights ranging dangerously high, relatively precise and (you will not believe it) really brilliant. To test exactly this frequency range through its paces, I have only given to feed the classic VOX. The result was startling. In the title "Spring 1" by Max Richter recomposition "Vivaldi's The Four Seasons" all sound sequences of the 1st violin could be tracked accurately. Even the slight and rough chop when the arc sweeps spirited across the strings is wonderful to hear. Because those are for example details that go with headphones, where the heights were slightly mitigated by or soft / sound fuzzy.
Chimes, Triangle sounds or higher playing flutes shimmer literally and are not limited in their wide sound. The fine decay of strings or bells can be recognized accurately.
Here is a small criticism of: As mentioned also in the middle, it can sometimes come here to over-sharpening detail, but not painful certainly can sound slightly shrill. Again, it should be noted that this can perceive differently from person to person, because some people are just hochtonempfindlicher than others.

Comfort:
Here it is again from the ear canal dependent on how well sit the in-ears. There are provided three different Plugs / essays. Since you have the middle, which already are in the factory setting on the VOX; Large essays and - I do not really know - small or medium (?). They are the same size as the Middle, but consist of two superimposed Plugs. Substituting a she, so the front end anchored in the ear canal, thus preventing the fall out.
In my opinion, all the essays sit very comfortable in the ear canal. And I belong to the sensitive group. Even a Philips Treat (O'Neal) bother me after a long time, although this is also located quite pleasant. But the JABRA VOX you hardly feel.
Cable noise are only insulated perceptible. There are far more horrible models (eg the sports in-ear Sennheiser CX680), which make even the slightest touch on the cable music inedible. This is not the case with the VOX.

Processing:
The cable shall withstand a force of 15kg. I do not like but testing the cable looks much more robust than that of most in-ears this price range. It whisked also not so easy and if so, it is in no time again. Taking the in-ears together, so there are two tiny magnets (mounted approximately at the level of the jaw muscles) at both cables. This stick together when folding the in-ears and prevent accidental knotting both listeners.
The plug is bent and is very discreet. Nevertheless, he was very well reinforced, thereby providing a cable break is very unlikely.
As an extra addition there is a small plastic carrying case in the package to be opened by magnetic snap closure. It opens, in which you both sides (left and right) pressed against each other. If you leave them loose again, thus closing the opening of its own accord. Very nice ...

Headset Fuktion:
Unfortunately, Android only the middle switch is covered with the Mute function. The volume can unfortunately be excited on Apple devices on the wired remote control. Very foolish! Because Jabra but already offers an app for Android, but still denied the full functioning of service. But even worse is the fact that the in-ears have no Telefonierfunktion Android. At least I was able to achieve anything more than the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The Jabra-APP:
Jabra advertises his headphones currently with Dolby Verdifizierungen. The experienced audiophiles is guessed in advance that this is all just hot air. The app, which needs to be unlocked with the enclosed code is an easy verbuggtes music playing program with many EQ presets. If you switch a DOLBY, so once done no sound alteration. Only when the extra space sound activated it, it can be heard: A diffuse sound that somehow to pretend space. In fact, everything just sounds bad. The bass seems booming, voices do not sound farther away etc .. So worth mentioning. This app can be safely ignored. I recommend the usual, ordinary music player to provide to NORMAL. No extras. That is when the Jabra VOX really not necessary, except, you might want a bulkier Bass. If you still would like to play with the EQ and want to get really good sound-Verbieger offer, I recommend Power Amp. It costs a few euros, but you can at least before testing. The structure, the control and the really extensive EQ is superior to the Jabra and so many other players far.

Conclusion:
Full-bodied bass, detailed mids and bold heights distinguish the sound of the Jabra Vox. What you should definitely do it with any in-ear: Treat Einpspielzeit, try different in-ear plug sizes and even experiment with the seat in the ear canal. There is such a way that the sound quality of in-ears, unlike headphones, on many other factors (besides just good drivers) depends. Therefore, best to try and make their own judgment.

+ Comfort
Processed + Robust
+ Bag Included
+ Headset function for iPhone
