At first, when I have so read the first reviews in the magazines in 2008, I found the speakers as real ugly. Just as formerly the Opel GT with chrome rings around each chassis. I had since 1997 the large Canton Ergo and was happy always and at all times. Well, although they were high and wide, but always well processed and I had great fun with the speakers. Prior to 1997 I had speakers from Audio Physics and Backes and Müller. So I have been in earlier times, the upper class of the speakers use and can call my own.
Now shut the Chrono 509. A mass speaker. A speaker should have it needed chrome rings to pull the individual chassis ??
I ride indeed no BMW 3 series.
In my inquiries on the Internet about new speakers I came again and again to the Chrono 509 from the price-performance ratio. And that always exellent with sound characteristics described. So my search pursed becoming on these speakers, mainly because I have no XXXXEuro for Dynaudio, Backes and Müller or Dali speakers and had. I wanted to outdo only the Ergo just stop, because I did not want to see this after 15 years and tonally well was no longer fresh.
Then I, I threw myself into the deep end and the Ergo sold easily and brought for little money more the Chronos without having to listen to the living room.
First of all: From Design I find the Chronos now really great. You are in my living room without cover. It looks really good, the Kecke, followed by dividing the spirits. So without cover and with chrome rings.
For sound:
The Chronos are properly crisp! Just as earlier Backes and Müller. The fraction of the Ergos (20kg compared to 40kg) is really off fully. I hear musicians like Frank Zappa, BrandX, Genesis and audiophile CD's back to the way very early. With a lot of fun while listening. Correct course and analytically. The sound is completely detached from the speakers, it does get a stage and everything is there. What you expect and what you know. The Lausprecher is extremely tight, responsive and with high dynamics.
All styles of music are equivalent suitable. Classical, rock, heavy metal, soul, pop, no matter if the recording is good, it's off the head and the heart.
The sound, the 20 years before 8000 DM or more cost is to receive today for scarce EURO 1250 list price. And I paid for "Warehouse Deals" on Amazon by half. Precise bass lines and crystal clear, sharp highs not contribute to the analysis of music. The percussion sounds incredibly precise and natütlich.
My system consists of the flagship of the AVR series of Harman Kardon, the AVR 7300. This high-end sound quality to be certified. (Audio 95 PKT). For this purpose a CD player Marantz CD 17. Although Chronos are very frugal in terms of power amplifiers, I think they are really well served by this system.
Conclusion:
The Chrono 509 are an extremely musical, fast, low-coloration and crisp speaker (now for me) looks valuable and really full can be fun.
What should a speaker more ??
Perhaps the absolute low bass is missing. This can be erwoben by the subwoofer AS 525 for 300 euros. I'll think the purchase yet.
I have no other choice:
These speakers are a pleasure !!!
