I use the to expand my wireless signal over 4 floors. My WiFi Fritz! Box 7170 is (Connection Technology permitting) in the basement and on the 2nd floor so I had no signal. So I created the TP-Link as an access point in the 2nd floor (via an existing Cat-5 Ethernet connection (= cable) from the Fritz! Box) connected and configured. First, the IP ranges and addresses were to put the two devices so that they know and understand. This was relatively simple because only the IP address of TP-Link AP was set on the DHCP range of the Fritz! Box. Then reboot and (= same as in the Fritz! Box) Set the SSID in the TP-Link and finished the thing. Now I have consistently throughout the house my wireless signal available for wireless (laptop and smartphone). Particularly positive is to say that I can use the TP-Link without power adapter, since I use the included PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) component. This is switched on the power supply in the feed in the basement of the supply current in the LAN signal. The TP-Link on the top floor so only the Ethernet cable and takes the power out there again. Very convenient if like me no 220V outlet is nearby.
A star deduction, because the manual is quite simple and the different possibilities of connection configuration is not really clearly described.
Oh, and with me the German plug was there ;-)
================== Short Addendum to 5 months of operation: no failures, no power interruptions, stable signal, speed alright.
