Also known as lovers of harder sounds I've taken a liking to Katzenjammer several years ago. The debut "Le Pop" was an original and grandiose style mix of the four multi-instrumentalists. The following "A Kiss Before You Go" was still good, but had no more to offer quite so many great songs. After more than three years, the listener is now "Rockland" available - and unfortunately I find the album a little disappointing. The instrument diversity is indeed still there, but the songs seem mostly much conventional and trivial as on the last two panels. Exploits as "A bar in Amsterdam" or "Hey Ho on the Devil's Back" are nowhere. Some numbers can certainly sit up, like "Curvaceous Needs" and "Bad Girl" - but they sound so well, as if Katzenjammer swiped at himself. Say: The songs are strongly reminiscent ever existed before. The majority of "Rockland" consists of frighteningly shallow pop Nümmerchen without original touch. Three star's because the album is not bad - but really good goes just given the predecessor otherwise.
