So I have got the Harmony 300 gained. First I had to find that the installed Harmony software does not work with the 300. So visit the website, download and install the setup. Installed by the way, a driver for the 300 and (if not yet available) Microsoft Silverlight (and I thought I would come to another MS installation around - denkste). Then register and log - how to make it even knows of the other Harmony series. Why Logitech is here on a Silverlight application and does not use the existing Harmony software will probably remain a mystery. Likewise, the open browser window is only suitable for netbook resolutions, just to configure / change and rapid testing here a notebook is particularly suitable.
In terms of device support I need probably nothing more to write, I think everyone here will find it. The configuration of the key is simple, although maybe some names of the key functions of the original device may 100% are not evident, which is then connected to some experimentation. Also, I have not yet figured out how a function of the key can be removed completely. The processing of the remote control and key pressure points are ok; especially the matte surface is a blessing in this day and age. The numeric keypad is in my opinion too far placed below and the buttons are too small (problem I know of the 555).
Unfortunately, the Harmony 300 can not "Activities" as the "real" Harmonies, but only "Devices" (perhaps one reason why the Harmony software can not be used?). This means that when you switch to another device, the corresponding device will not be switched on / off and also not the appropriate input (TV, audio system) is selected. Only through the "Watch TV" button you can define if another device is to be with switched (eg TV + satellite receivers; but here then also lack of change for input as long as the television by the control signal from the cable does not own the source switches) , Anyone who believes the 300 would only no LCD screen and no keys lighting mistaken. For the two devices in my bedroom I can live with this shortcoming, however.
Conclusion:
* 4 star for those with 2 devices. Deducting's for the above incomprehensible software solution for current owners Harmony, useability of the browser window in netbooks and keys the numeric keypad or arrangement.
* 3 To control points for those devices with the Harmony 300 3-4 (especially in combination DVD / Bluray + audio system). Which I absolutely recommend to look at the more expensive model (the older Discontinued's as remaining stock from only 30 Euro). These offer the above "Activities", thus significantly more comfortable, but also require a bit more configuration effort.
